At what point in your life did you learn what a strawman argument was? It's an internet thing you just learned to deflect arguments.

    Admit it.

That's what you do, when you get cornered by your bad basketball takes. You reach for philosophy that you just learned by watching other people say "that's just a strawman argument."

And btw: Codman did not make a strawman argument. So, you still have some more learning to do.

    You are so cute.

Like the thread title says, I think we should all just step back and say enough. Can't wait for the Season.

Bench role? What bench role? Oh, you just mean the couple of times JSmoov started over him? I love DMo too, but didn't TJ start over him a few times?

You appreciate TJ when it's convenient. There's no hype surrounding TJ, but rather, a fairly objective look into his strengths and weaknesses, which all players have. It does appear as though you are bothered by TJ's role on this team, whether that be from the bench or as a starter. It doesn't make sense.

That's why people claim you have an agenda. I couldn't care less, as long as the Rockets are doing well. I was happy to have Jet when Pat went out, not because I like Jet more, but because he was able to get the job done.

This is documented, but as a reminder, TJ's worth around the league is greater than what you're giving him credit for. There are numerous teams that would put him into their starting line-up without batting an eye.

Your conception of worth, when it comes to NBA talent, is questionable. This isn't Kwame Brown we're discussing. TJ is a guy that can average a double-double and impact games in a way that countless forwards CANNOT.

DMo, while more diverse in the post, doesn't have a value that skyrockets through the roof. In reality, he's a developing player, now, with a history of injuries. He and TJ are two different players with different types of potential.

We're lucky that each guy can score and rebound, though that's still a deficit in their overall production.

Until you look beyond the numbers and examine each player WITHOUT always comparing them to one another, you'll never understand what they bring to the table and where they need to develop. You're too set on creating some make-believe scenario where they are battling each other for minutes, McHale's support and fan admiration.

SMH, just like always I end up having to spell things out to people who fail to follow along and lately you've been REALLY bad about it. When Codman said
He was ignoring my actual position and was substituting a distorted, exaggerated or misrepresented version of that position.....that's pretty much the definition of a strawman argument.

I accept your failures when it comes to basketball analysis, I'm struggling with accepting your failures when it comes to simple conversation.

I'm not going to give up on you though, I can teach you and make you better than you are but you have to work with me.

lols. No he didn't. But it is exactly what you did to me last page.

    good try.

In Psychology, what you are doing now is called "Projection."

Do you know that word means as well as your layman version of the Philosophy definition of "strawman argument."

Narcissism, once again. Please, do tell us all about your expert basketball analysis. With this radiation, I have plenty of time to read armchair coaching and talent evaluations.

Show us what we're missing. Really. I'd like to read what I've been wrong about all along.

Look, this BBS is full of highly-analytical Rockets and NBA fans. You're not going to outdo guys like HeyP,Clutch, Doc, etc...They're watching the same games and players you see. They have the same access to stats.

It's like me trying to speak knowledge to BimaThug about salaries and exceptions. It's not happening.

Whatever you believe about DMo or TJ is purely from observation.

Now, do you see why people claim you may have a fan-based agenda? It's not to discredit your observations. It's probably because posters have become annoyed with the bickering.

Edit: Will check back soon for updated information. Can't wait!

What you seemingly fail to understand is that in less than a year, perhaps much less than that, a decision will have to be made as to which guy to keep around and which guy to let go. If they were both on long term contracts, then there would be very little conversation to be had, but that's not the case.

It's very unlikely that Morey will bring both guys back given what they are likely to command in the open market so that's why they get compared to each other. One has a future with the Rockets, one does not.....it's the whole reason why this is a conversation to begin with.

LOL, No one has failed to see that contracts will be involved. Who are you kidding?

Do you know which player has a future with the Rockets? No, it's speculation.

What was your point again? I don't see anything but the obvious.

How about this...how is Sam going to fit in this year? Now, that's actually an interesting conversation because of untapped potential. We don't quite know what he brings to the court, at least in the NBA. The college game and NBA game are incredibly different.

And this is called Adaptive behavior, after I told you that I think you have promise, you are repeating it back to me as your bottomline dis.

    Do you not see that?

That's not the case at all, you simply had a flawed premise. You were suggesting that HeyP's analysis was similar to that of Clutch or similar to Bima with respect to his unparalleled knowledge of salaries and exceptions. If that was anywhere near the case then things would be different. It's not.

Look, time will tell on this one and really we're all stuck waiting to find out.

Looks like someone has barked up the wrong tree.

Bobby you're working the bleep out of that straw-man argument you tried to deflect on others.

Hey Bobby. Ask Bima who here inspired him to talk to Larry Coon. Look up Larry Coon's CBA Faq and look for the name Kevin Willcutts in Larry Coon's acknowledgements and thank yous

I was talking to Larry Coon on the Lakers' usenet forum back in 2000. Larry Coon emailed me to be part of the review committee for his 2005 revision. I corrected him on a couple of technical points and helped him word things better. He was gracious enough to acknowledge my support to his efforts. I also helped Patricia Bender with her legendary salary page.

This is when I was younger with more time. But the new generation is much better than me as they have more info at their disposal vs doing things through usenet and email.

BimaThug is one of my heroes.

What are you talking about? I like Tjones, and Dmo - happy to have them both, don't care who starts, they are both role players, I personally think DMo is a better individual player both offensively and defensively.

But I think TJones is a nice athletic match with Dwight?

I don't care who starts, who plays the most, all I care about is who helps the team win.

Not sure why you picked up on my post - which was more of a comment.

    Maybe your agenda is showing.

    :)

Further, ask Jonathan Feigan who he emailed to run his Fan page at the Chronicle for basketball analysis. I almost accepted, but, alas, my company moved me to Germany for a year, so I didn't feel like I was going to be able to provide takes and analysis like I did before on cfnet.

That was the take I was looking for DD.

You are getting too busy lately, and getting short on your takes. Me too. I just wanted to pull it out of you, vs the earlier boilerplate you provided. ;)

    I agree.

DMo is the man. Let's just all get healthy!!!

Well he would have been the only player on the court who can create his own shot so it's reasonable to think so. The argument for TJones in the starting lineup is that he's a better fit to play off the ball and get garbage buckets. But in a game where you've got no one who can create, DMO would have given you more high percentage shots and open looks.
