Of course not, but after the way Coach bad-Mouthed him, I think he deserves to give M&M a big hug......

How could Morris be inconsistent when you made this thread after Morris' very first nba game with nba minutes?

I will say his season stats are a little weak in the efficiency department, but he is forcing the defender to guard him. He is currently 21st in PF scoring.

I do think is early to judge him too much except to say he has potential to be good and potential to be a bust. I do think it is very hypocritical to start a thread bashing a guy after one game, but then come back after a second game and say he needs to do good on a consistent basis.

I still have my hopes and doubts about Morris. Tonight was a very positive sign.

I project morris to be a al harington type tweener, which is not a bad big to come off the bench for you

not surprised to find this thread on the second page

I don't expect anyone to jump on the M&M bandwagon but how about we see some critics give it up for the coaches. They might have a little more insight into the talents on our team than the average GARM member.

I have been heated because of T jones not playing but i have to be a man and admit that MM has been playing his ass off.I still believe T-jones is better but i have to give credit when its due.

One good game does not make a player. He needs to become a regular 10+ PPG guy off the bench or eventually Jones will come up and take his place in the rotation. And if Jones starts going off and proves that he needs to be the starter, then Patterson will be in the bigs rotation and Morris will be keeping the bench warm. Prove what you got while you have playing time, because nothing is guaranteed in the NBA.

Dude has offensive skills....just seems like he's struggled to relax and play within himself. I think he deserves to get significant PT for a stretch of games to see if he's going to mature or not. He can get to the basket better than most of our other players, and since we're not going to be a real contender this year, let's give him some more time. He was a late lottery pick, and i don't want to cast him off too soon. The rookies will get their time this season, but throwing them all to the wolves at once may not benefit them as much as sharing their time with more experienced players.

I just remembered that Morey learned his lesson from Jeremy Lin and that he's not going to give up "early" on his "prospect". This explains why Morris has stuck around and continues to be given the chance. I trust Morey scouted Mook Morris well before drafting him (Morris supposedly had great efficiency in college) and I'm sure they've seen a lot of positives from his play in the D-League. Hopefully the Atlanta game springboards Mook to significance to this team. Because if he becomes a viable scoring option for the Rockets, he's just going to make life easier for HardLin.

The best part of Mook's game is that he's probably one the very few PFs you'll see with a mid-range game and a pull up jumper.

I loved how he took Josh Smith off the dribble and had Smith commit to him to defend the layup or dunk, but he pulls up in front of the rim and nails it. He can do this all day against PFs. He's got good handles to make dribble drives.

Plus those elbow jumpers really look sweet. It's not that he can't finish at the rim as well. Once he settles down with his 3, and starts hitting it on a confidently consistent basis, I think he could earn himself the 3rd highest scoring average on this team even if he comes of the bench.

He looks small out there (doesn't pass the "eye test") but I think on paper his size is just enough.

    Just for size comparison's sake:

Player - ht w/o shoes - w/ shoes - wingspan - standing reach (from DraftExpress)

    Marcus Morris - 6'7" - 6'9" - 6'10" - 8'9.5"

    David Lee - 6'7.75" - 6'9" - 7'0" - 8'10.5"

    Kevin Love - 6'7.75" - 6'9.5" - 6'11.25" - 8'10"

    Carmelo Anthony - 6'6.25" - 6'7.5" - 7'0" - 8'9.5"

    Height difference = negligible

(Mike Woodson effectively plays this 6'6"-ish forward at PF, again his versatility puts him at an advantage offensively against bigger and slower PF's. Same thing Mook can exploit if he gets good at it)

Size is definitely not an excuse not to perform.

Carmelo's 2 inch wingspan advantage is really just an inch on each side so... does that really make a difference?

For all intents and purposes, Marcus Morris has enough size.

    Moving forward,

    1. I wish he'd settle in with a calmly consistent 3 point shot.
    2. And I'd love to see his
    a. high basketball IQ
    b. and high motor that scouts had raved about pre-draft

I think the confidence issue will be the biggest burden for him, and his Atlanta game is a very big boost for him to come out of his shell.

I expect him to get better. The Coach and the GM believes in him. I'm sure his teammates respect his abilities. He's got Harden & Lin who are "notorious" for making their teammates better. He's got Jeremy Lin to draw inspiration from, the best "end of bench to significant player story" ever.

He's going to get better, It's inevitable. Only a matter of time...

Morris has never been consistent because he has never been given a chance. Consistency comes with opportunity.
