Yao is just where he should be. We will have better idea about him by the end of this season. Lots of guys are having funs tonight.
Juugie who the heck are you and who do you think you are calling posters 'out'? I am not realy sure what you mean by it but I detect a slight tone of abuse in your language. In this topic I posted about one hour after your post calling us 'out', I might add without reading your post quoted above. Besides this post I also posted a couple in other topics Last night was a horrible game everyone with the exception of Mobley played like they hated JVG and refused to execute.I consider that JGV is missing the boat because he is not using his players to their strenghths, rather he is trying to get them to improve their weaknes. Its a difficult thing to do even in the offseason , nerver mind in the season when it counts. Who wants another NY?
Yetti I don't know what his problem is. every time Yao has a good name now let call HIM out. No wait that would be a r****ded thing to do.
Juggie: My expressions about Steve Francis is NOT focused on his games. Its based on my opinion of some 19 months that the type of Game that Steve and Mobley had been playing for the previous seasons WOULD NOT WORK if they intended to build the Rockets arround Yao Ming. It was true then and its true now! For the Rockets sake, I hope that they can adapt and play together. Cat Mobley looks like he is staring to adapt his game but Steve Francis looks very unhappy trying to assume the role of Playmaker. If Francis was to play the position of Shooting Guard he might have more difficulties not being in controle of the ball and the Game plan.
Juugie is just another fan of the other teams who wanted Yao so bad trying to make an illusion here that Yao is cancer...should be traded (those trade suggestions were as unbalanced as it can be in reality)...blah blah blah... Can't you guys see the point of this pathetic fan who's watching his FAVORITE player, namely Yao, not playing for his/her favorite team or home town?? AND, most importantly, Yao wasn't drafted @ no.1 for his 'toughness' but his overall skill. He'll probably never be as tough as Shaq or sth simply becuz he's just a different kind of center, one with more dimensions (shooting and passing).
Once again this comes down to physical tools. Shawn Bradley is a toothpick, but his upperbody development is basically the same as Yao's. Rasho Nestorivic has muscles. Yao is going to get killed by Shaq unless the refs are very sensitive in their foul calling. I think the offense needs to go through Steve and Cuttino anyway because I think this team needs to find out if Steve is right for this team this freaking year. Go through Steve on the offense, and find out if he can lead the team to the playoffs. If he can't do it this year, he should be traded. Going through Yao now even if successful delays what should be really done. Steve MUST demonstrate that he is worthy of a max contract this year. Max contract guys who can't at least get a team to a playoff should be traded ASAP.
Yao's been our most consistent player thus far, and he has one bad game and the sky is falling. Give us all a break.
Juugie, You must be stupid to believe that without Yao, this Rox team would be better. Without Yao, this team is close to trash! Without Yao, this team could not get JVG or any other decent coach. Without Yao, this team wouldn't get much media coverage or sell as many seats. Most importantly, without Yao this team is simply ugly to watch on both ends. Everyone is sacrificing for Yao? You think Yao is holding them back? Two years ago, nobody was holding them back, and who did they sacrifice for? This year, at least we are still winning!
I always take into account cap considerations when looking at trades. Idiots who think trading Yao who makes a little over $4 million for a center who is most likely less productive is good for the Rockets. It's way easier to get a very good point guard than a good center. Steve makes freaking around $11 million. If he wasn't on the roster along with some of the other garbage contracts like Moochie and Maurice, the Rockets would be able to get premium talent like Brad Miller. I'd take Brad Miller and his $8 million/year contract over Steve and his monstrous contract anyday of the week. Taking Yao's $4 million off the cap does absolutely zilch, and it basically puts Cato in the starting center spot. Cato is an absolute blackhole on offense, and his jumpshot is one of the worst in the league. Cato makes freaking $6 million. Maurice plays defense like a matador, and he makes almost $10 million. Trade these payroll anchors first before trading someone who makes $4 million and is ranked in top 20 of NBA.com for production.
Finally agreed with you once. But read the X-guy's reponse to my message. Man is he mad or what? For a professional athlete, staying till mid-night writing those stuff might not be a good idea. Let alone we have a game tomorrow. And staying more in the gym is exactly what he needs now! Neither I nor any true Rockets' and Yao's fan want to see him hanging arround lie Shawn Brandly now.
Juugie, I have a question for you: If after 1 and 1/4 seasons in the NBA, you've ascertained Yao's ceiling, then surely after 4 and 1/4 seasons you've also determined Steve's, yes? Please enlighten us: If you see nothing in Yao's game that suggests he's a player the Rockets can build around and win a championship with (and I'm not necessarily saying Yao absolutely fits that bill), what have you seen in Francis's game? Do you believe Steve is that player? While you're at it, would you mind solving a few other mysteries for me? Why does Francis, with 5 or 6 seconds left in the half or a quarter, always jog the ball up the court before attempting a shot? Don't you think that if he attacks the ends of quarters with a sense of urgency, if he pushes the ball up and pressures the defense, that he can get a higher-percentage shot than the prayers he throws up (which, irrelevantly, are occasionally answered) or find an open shooter? But he always jogs the ball up--why? Why does Steve dribble up the sidelines to get trapped at halfcourt at least once a game? Why does Steve bounce the ball off his own foot at least once a game? Why does Steve lazily meet an inbounds pass only to have a defender steal it from him due to his nonchalance at least once a game? The other 2 or 3 turnovers he commits each game he likes to switch around for the sake of variety: perhaps an offensive foul or two, perhaps an unnecessary over-the-shoulder pass, perhaps an 8-second violation, perhaps an over-and-back violation, perhaps driving into three defenders hoping to get bailed out by the refs (which even elicits cackling laughter from his own team's announcers at times), or perhaps one we'd never imagined before--Steve's greatest creativity seems to be in finding new ways of turning the ball over. I like the title of your thread: ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. But who is more deserving of it: the player who's had, what, 350 games of NBA experience? Or the player who's had only 100? Please, Juugie, since you are such a wonderful evaluator of talent, would you please inform us as to why Steve still does those things after playing all these hundreds of games in the NBA? Championship-calibre player, I'm sure. Must be because he's sacrificing his game for Yao, huh?
Can we trade Juggie for a bag of pork rinds and a gummie bear? We may have to throw in a first round pick into the equation....
That "lead" change came at the coaching level... and should not change on the floor overnight because Yao has notched 1 full year under his belt. Francis is not my favorite player on this team. Yao is not my favorite player on this team. JVG is not my favorite coaching choice for this team. Other than that I guess I have no right to assess that Yao is a baby sometimes on the court? Get real. If I can't say that Yao stinks it up in the "brawn" department when it's true, the I can't say the Francis has stunk it up either. JVG's plan will not work in one year. Sure he's the coach, sure he should implement his own system.. but dishing everything in to Yao -trying to force him to be the next Dream, or Ewing- will NOT work until Yao gets tough. That being said, Francis is more of a vet, more of a scorer, and would still be the "LEADER" of this team if he was allowed to be. Yao MAY eventually be the leader, but he has to earn that away from Francis first... not just get it dropped on him by the new head smurf. And I never have, nor will I, endorse a trade of Yao... that's not the point from where I see it. The point is - Don't take away Francis game while he's yet on the team, and is yet the veteran leader with the most consectutive years with the organization in a starting role. IMHO, the most consectutive years with the organization in a starting role defines who the "leader" of the team is. Not how good you MIGHT end up being. At this rate, with this logoc... it should already be Malick Badiane's team.
that said pork rinds are good, so i wouldn't even want the gummi bear. hell, i'd give up a gummi bear.
Well said, if such move could make everybody happy and restore SF the Great Dribbler's confidence, be that as it may. Yao to play with Duncan and Parker and he would be a much happier man.
There's a hugh difference between Yao and SF: Yao is double- or even treble-teamed most of the time, but SF likes to dribble to attract double-teams. Two different players, can't co-operate well, hence one of them should be traded.
