I’m as angry with Yao as anyone, but I still wouldn’t trade away an all-star center unless you get one back in return. If it were Chandler/Curry and Crawford for Yao I would consider it. However I wouldn’t trade Yao for any power forward unless their name is Duncan, Garnett, and MAYBE J.O’Neal.

Trading Yao for Stoudamire or Randolph would make it pretty much a sure thing that the Rockets will be destined to be at best another one of those Phoenix, Seattle, or Utah teams that have had a ton of talent at the 1-4 spots but never won it all because they lacked a legitimate center. I’m going to pretend I didn’t even see that Dampier/Van Excel trade.

Great post I agree with you, I was very happy with the last four or five seasons, just like you are.I like a team with pleanty of entertainment, especially Steve and Mobes and how they pass to each other and take most of the shots. Bring back the good old days , who cares about Playoffs or Championships. Cato is realy a much better Center than Yao Ming he is so athletic and strong. I realy loved last season when we had the three Guard offence. If it wasnt for Yao Ming we could be having a four Guard Offence and be truly a Guard Oriented Team. Go Rockets!:p

Let's put it this way. The Rockets will never be retiring Yao Ming's number 11. The only way he'll win a championship is if he rides on a superstar's coattails, like how David Robinson rode on Tim Duncan's coattails, or how Karl Malone and Gary Payton are ridiing on Shaquille O'Neal's coattails.

Juug I total agree with you and basically said the same thing moments ago in another thread:

###You do not have to move anyone to get early offense and to get fast breaks. The attention and commitment has been to the defense and to get Ming to dominant. JVG has pontificated about the need for balance even telling MoT that he does not want to be known as an offensive player. Well hello, Mr JVG, your team is only a defensive team. Put some serious attention to getting the fast breaks and early offense going. It is glaring that Ming does not have the physical or mental composition for you to be so reliant on him. Look at his shoulders, look at his hands. At best you are going to need an extended period to get Ming up to that stage. In the meantime are we going to let SF just stagnate. You bench Ming for poor boxing out and then he comes back and, on que, goes and give away a rebound and basket on a missed FT.

After looking at all the tapes, JVG came away saying we need better jump shooters. He did not say run more, early offense, or more athletic high flying types. He said jump shooters and went out and got jump shooters. So there you have it. It was the wrong diagnosis and hence the problems are not fixed and you have already let Posey go.

I am not for player turnover. Trying to get EG back will be infinitely easier that trying any other alternative. Refocus on the early offense game and fast breaking. Ming is making progress but we are and may continue to pay too much of a price. The result was never to gain Ming and lose SF.###

Yao and Mot T for Jermaine O'Neal and Artest = Juugie is almost IDIOT

Yao for Zach Randolph =Juugie is a STUPID IDIOT

Yao played Elden Campbell, not Ben Wallace. Wallace is playing PF for Detroit this season.

I can't believe that most think Yao should be dominating rightaway. It will take some time and if you think having Steve and Mobley do it all like before then will be in the Lottery every year. For one thing Mobley still doesn't know how to pass to the post and that kills Yao chances to do anything when Mobley is in.

Rockets will do much better come Saturday and I believe they will win. GO ROCKETS!!!!:)

This is not true, wait until after Yao is fully physically developed, let's say after 3 years in the league before you make this judgement.

Do you know how hard it is to win a Championship in the NBA? The stars basically have to align for you. The management needs to be committed to bringing in winners, and basically you have to get lucky on deals and drafts.

If you put Hakeem on this team, do we have a Championship team? I'm talking 1994 Hakeem. Maybe, but I don't know about it because 1994 Hakeem had a with great GREAT chemistry around him, players who were smart and played their roles.

Obviously guys like Vinny Del Negro were not enough to help David Robinson win a Championship. And you didn't see Shaq carrying the Magic over the hump until he go to LA and had a good team around him.

The offense starts with Yao and the defense is anchored by Yao. I'd say we're a better team than last year when it was a more guard oriented team.

Yao shoots better than Steve, better than Cuttino, etc. Yeah, he gets blocked too much for a 7'6" guy, but would you rather the guy that shoots close to 50% and gets to the foul line the most take the shot or the guy that shoots close to 40%.

Yao isn't always going to have a great game. He did lose some rebounds he should have had, but if you watched the game you'll noticed that he was boxing out his man and getting pretty good position.

Yao is to blame for destroying SF's game and confidence? I don't think SF's game or confidence is destroyed. I think he's ok with the lower individual stats if we make the playoffs.

Do you watch the games? Seriously. Yao is rarely guarded by 6'9" guys. About 10% of the time he's been out there I'd say. Ben Wallace was only guarding him for a short part of the game vs. the Pistons. Brian Grant is the only guy that I can think of off-hand who fits your description.

A big reason why Cat, Steve, JJ etc. get good looks is because Yao is the focal point of the opposition. We let Cat and Steve run with it for enough years without a playoff birth. We haven't even gone halfway through the season with Yao as a focus and your're ready to give up. This is despite our team playing better than in recent years.

Right now Yao is a good player. Hopefully he can become great, but that remains to be seen. If he leads us to the playoffs, it'll be more than anyone's done for this team in a long while. Your post just wasted 5 minutes of my life. Thanks.

I see this game as only one LOSE . Nothing More!

We lose one game here and people come up with trades ideas. Trades that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Its not like we dont have time to make any improvements. I only see this team going up, way up.

So what Yao had a bad game. Dunca outplayed Yao yada yada yada. If my memory serves me right, didnt Yao outplay Duncan & David Robinson last year. He almost scored 30 and grabbed something like 18 rebounds that day. The GUY had a bad GAME. Dont look into it to much cause one might some ideas..like trade idea.

Yao for Zach Randolph? WTF is this CRAP? Randolph doesnt come close to comparing my beloved Yao. Yao changes shots, intimidates people, Takes up alot of paint space and makes people better. So what, Zach scores 80 points in a LOSING effort.

ONE GAME, one lose...no need to come up woth trade ideas!

Frankly, at ROX's current level, I can accept 5 ugly losses per season. But my point is they need to learn from it and not just blame refs and someone else...:D

    Zach Randolph - 22.5 ppg 11 rpg 2.3 apg 22 years old
    Yao Ming - 16.8 ppg 10 rpg 1.9 apg 23 years old

Zach's numbers are better across the board and he's younger. So any percieved potential that Yao has, he has as much if not more. And he has the kind of mentality to dominate a game - we just saw that.

Penny and Amare > than Yao regardless of what you think. Amare would give us true toughness inside and Penny a tall off guard to play with Steve and distribute the ball.

    J O'Neal - 20.3 ppg 10.5 rpg 2.8 apg
    Yao Ming - 16.8 ppg 10 rpg 1.9 apg

Jermaine's numbers are better across the board. He has a more dominant personality. Artest > than Mo T

    Dampier 12 ppg 13 rpg
    NVE - clutch vet

Yao for LeBron? That loud sound you hear is Cleveland laughing their butts off.

    Hi Juugie,

I am so confused with your "trades" suggestion. U realise that u have to match the salaries to do the trades, right? None of your trades match the salaries except Lebron's one. And I dont know when did Lebron become a "truly physical low post threat".

So I assume that we should ignore the salaries factor and concentrate on the "talent" of the trades.

Let's review Yao's talent from your post in this thread:

    -"passive, slow, frightened play"
-"Get physical with Yao and he disappears"
    -continuously being blocked
    -"Manu Ginobli outrebounded Yao"
-"totally destroyed SF's game and confidence" because of Yao's involvement
-"Everytime he plays a true seven footer he has problems"
-"He was being shut down by RASHO"
-"We will not go anywhere by featuring Yao in this offense"
-Yao prevents that "Cat, Steve, and JJ get their games going"
    -"Yao will lead us nowhere"
-Yao "looks like a wuss when playing people his own age"
-The team "are sacrificing their games to get Yao involved"

Not only is yao a piece of garbage after reviewing his talents from your posts in this thread (he's sure a piece of shxt if I also review your posts other than this thread), he's such a cancer that make his teammates worse. Now u want to trade him for a bunch of studs including ROY+ex-all star, east coast most dominant forward+members of All-Defensive Second Team, potential all-star and most improved player, or most hyped player ever?

YOU KNOW U JUST CANT TRADE GARBAGE FOR DIAMOND, RIGHT? Or u think u r the only genius who knows Yao's piece of garbage but looks like a diamond? If u think that u r such a genius, I would suggest you keep your evaluation to yourself because otherwise when everyone knows Yao's a piece of shxt, then no one would trade their diamond with u.

Get real, Juugie. From your review, I think the only reasonable and workable trade is Yao+moochie for dampier. Maybe GS would happily throw in a draft pick.

Should we pull the trigger now, Juugie?

Yao has a bigger impact on the game than Amare both defensivly and offensively.

He has a bigger impact on the game defensivly than Randolf.
I’m not sold on LeBron yet, and am pretty sure we don’t want to replace a solid center with legendary potential with another guard. Although, a three guard offense of LeBron, Mobley, and Francis might be fun to watch, It’s not championship material. LeBron is not the next Michael Jordan. And to be honest I’d take a potentially awesome center over a potentially awesome guard any day. If you didn’t know who Jordan would end up being would you have taken him over Hakeem? Maybe you would. I wouldn't.

The Jermain O’neal/Artest thing is actually interesting, but Yao is younger bigger and a better passer.

The Dampier, Van excel trade is just stupid. You get weaker and older. Van Excel is a scorer. We have those. Dampier has been underacheiving until this year.

I'm saying trade him before his value falls. Name me 5 great games Yao has had since the All Star break last year. Just 5. People like to throw out Yao's numbers against the Spurs last year, but look at the total numbers:

    Game 1 27 points 18 rebounds
    Game 2 11 points 8 rebounds
    Game 3 14 points 9 rebounds
    Game 4 2 points 3 rebounds

Now throw in the first game this year

    Game 1 8 points 9 rebounds

Doesn't look like hall of fame material to me.

The guy just doesn have any great games. He got 20/20 the other day and people were trumpeting it like it no one had ever done it before.

Face it, dude is average. He's tall and has a soft touch. That does not equal best player in the league. He has no fire and has no guts.
