Cato: 12minutes, 5 shots. Yao:41 minutes,6shots, 3 on offensive putbacks. Yao is a much bigger target than Cato. What did these numbers tell?
Simple. It says that Miami was doing everything it could defensively to limit Yao's touches while being indifferent to Cato's touches.
A point I have been making. Doesnt seem to sink into some ppl's heads tho. They figger it aint costing *them* anything and after all..."it's just a message board". Well, it's turning into "just a message board"...it used to be a "community of Rockets fans"... There IS a difference.
I agree. Road win vs. a recently surging Heat team is something I'll take, regardless of how pretty the game was.
I wish it's that simple. I've watched a few games this year, my feeling is some Rockets are more interested in being hero than winning games. I know selfishness is contangius, just hope Yao can stay cool and still be a team player after he dominates a few years later.
It's time to build the team around Yao instead of Francis. I can't stand the guards each keep launching 15-25 shots a game and Yao only shot 5-10 shots. Gifted as Francis and Mobley can be, they need to learn to sacrafice their game in order to improve their team. Ok yes, Francis made that clutch 3pts to send the game in OT but the game would be a lot easier with the win if they PASS THE GOD DAMN BALL TO MING! I was watching the game last night and i was yelling at the TV on Francis and Mobley to pass the ball inside but instead, they just love to jacked up bad shots. I'm not a big fan of Mobley, he's a Dominque Wilken-type player who loves to shoot bad shots.
It is that simple. Last night Yao was played probably more physically than he has been at any point this season. Teams dont have this same approach to Cato. Therefore, Cato is going to have an easier time getting shots than Yao is.
It IS that simple. Cato has like 1 maybe 2 offensive moves...dunk and alley oop.. Why would the Heat care to limit his touches? Now, how many different ways of hurting a team does Yao have? lets see...jump shot out to around 12-15 feet at 70% Shanghai shake from the low post.. Neat little quasi drop step from the low post.. up and under from the low post drive and dunk from anywhere around the bucket pass to open man pass to cutters see a pattern here? Cato is good for D, blocks and rebounding Yao is good for points and D and assists and blocks and rebounding... It is in a teams best interest to keep Yao as far away from the basket as they can...who cares how close Cato gets? You must not think much of Yao if you believe that he will not keep up his great team attitude just because things arent clicking right..I'm sure he has patience...why dont you?
Let's break it down : 1) There is a game thread at the top of the Rockets 2003: Game Action & Roster Moves forum (that's this forum in case you're wondering). 2) Discuss that game in that thread. 3) Resist urge to create another thread referring to thread. 4) Resist urge to respond to any thread discussing the game that is not the game thread.
