I see that, but he played less games and has had to share more shots since 2001. He's had some injury setbacks as well. I'm not saying he's been booming or anything, but to say such a talented player is done at 26 years old is very premature... He's as likely to score 20 goals next season as he is to score 11 or less again. If he were 29, I would agree. But at 26, he is way more likely to bounce back after a poor season than he is to decline.
Not so fast on the Rooney to ManU rumors.... Everton today turned down Manchester United's bid for Wayne Rooney and also rejected a new offer from Newcastle for the England striker. Transfer saga: Toon or United? (MatthewAshton/Empics) The Goodison Park club spurned Newcastle's initial offer of #20million earlier this week, which is believed to have been matched by United last night. However, the Magpies are thought to have increased their offer to #23.5million today - and have been rejected once more. Everton's head of public relations Ian Ross told the club's official website: 'Newcastle United have submitted an increased offer for Wayne Rooney - one which has been turned down. 'The bid submitted by Manchester United has also been rejected.'
they actually chased him (Chevanton) pretty hard last season..but he wants a place in a first team and wanted an important role in the first team ...that's why Juve almost signed him only to lose him to Monaco....take my words..he's gonna be real good My guess Rooney will move if somebody offer him a 30M pound bid .....
The end of their ground, which used to the the terrace where home fans stood, is called the Kop. Probably the most legendary stand in English football, when it held 27,000 football-mad scousers. http://gamesguru.tripod.com/hiskop.html
He entered a transfer request today, and United are set to up their bid to 25 million pounds. He said he wants to go to a club where he can play in Europe every year, I don't think that's Newcastle.
I like Man U b/c of Ruud V Nistlerooy and some of the other players that have been there awhile like Scholes, Giggs and Keane but I don't live and die with every win/loss like I do for the Rox & Titans. I am a soccer fan and enjoy watching good matchups. I really like the EPL b/c most of the games are played at a fast past and entertaining to watch. Anyone else see highlights of Middlesborough? They have a good squad too, very exciting to watch. Man, Hasslebank is a goal scoring machine. The dude just wills his way to score. Anyone else see the plays of the week on Fox Sports world on Tuesday night? That goal by Ronaldinho and the one by Ibrahimovic were amazing - mad skill.
I saw the highlights of them getting the worse end of a 5-3 game against the Arsenal! But Hasselbank is a machine. I'm kinda of suprised he didn't get a better offer than Middlesboro, but it may be his reputation for having attitude.
Does anyone else think that the Rooney bid by Newcastle was more a publicity stunt than anything else? To take people's minds off the fact that they have a lame-duck coach, a whiny overpaid midfielder and they just sold Woodgate without seemingly any plan for a replacement(though to be fair, all you need is someone to go sit in the trainer's room and collect a check while being injured to replace Woody).
If anyone is interested, Fox Sports World will air the Man United-Blackburn match tomorrow live at 6:30 am CDT. Both teams sports American goalkeepers in Tim Howard and Brad Friedel. Also 18 year old American defender Jonathon Spector will be making his Priemership debut for United, he's being tabbed as a future star.
Thanks for the heads up. Is Spector that good? I saw him play in the Community Shield game and a few exhibitions and he seems to play very unconfortably. I guess over time he will adjust. Either Sir Alex has lots of confidence in him and sees something special or is desperate for a defender. I am so glad they let Forlan go, I hate the way he plays, he messes up too damm much.
I think its a case of both, without Rio, Wes, and Hienze, we are very thin at the back, but Fergie is very high on him as well. I'm surprised to hear you weren't impressed by him, from the little I've seen of him he's looked very good. He played very well in the CL qualifier on Wednesday, and will start at left back tomorrow. Even more amazing then breaking into the starting line up for United at 18 is that he's only been a defender for 2 years. He was originally a striker for America's U-17 team, until multiple injuries to the back line forced him into duty. One of United's scouts were at the second game he played in the back, heard he was new to the postion, and signed him.
I was wondering what sites you all look at for football news? I usually read the Sun and Mirror, Skysports, soccernet, and the guardian. i have a lot of Arsenal specific sites as well. Newsnow.co.uk has team specific pages and they pull articles from a lot of other sites into one index.
BBC, Sky Sports, football365.com(more for entertainment than news). Got to see the Gold Medal Match today, ending my interest in the Olympics - not commercial free - thank you very little NBC. Surprised Paraguay put up so little of a fight(aside from the cheap shots).
Arsenal looked great again vs Norwich. I think it'll continue like this but I can't wait for their first showdown with Chelsea. Then I think we'll get a good barometer of how they can do against real competition. With all these goals they're scoring I'm hoping they've finally got that killer instinct to blow other teams out, much like manu used to do domestically, instead of getting a lead and then letting off the gas. I want to see more 5+ goal differentials again the teams they should stomp on.
