I'm still new to this, what's the difference between the HTC Android phone and the Motorola Droid with Verizon? I was 90% decided to get the Droid with Verizon but what is this other phone?
Same OS... well.. this phone will have Android 2.1 as opposed to the Motorola Droid which has 2.0 but I think they'll be able to upgrade to 2.1 as well.. not too much of a difference. As far as features go... HTC has many phones, if you're talking about this phone... it has a better camera than the Droid and better screen resolution (720p) and it also has an HDMI output (which I don't believe any phone outside of this one has) and it's 4G (which is Sprint's WiMax service which would currently be the fastest out of all the carriers). There's more but those are the main ingredients.
It's 4G... but it's not real 4G. WiMax doesn't theoretically reach 4G speeds... but I mean neither did 3G with all the carriers that have/had 3G.
It does on the download. 4G requires 100Mbps and it does 128. But yeah, upload is 56Mbps. Good enough for me.
Those aren't 4G speeds... there's no such thing as 4G yet... there's no standard set for 4G. That's what I meant. So while you can call WiMax 4G because it's higher than 3G.. it's really not 4G. This will give you a better perspective. http://www.lightreading.com/document.asp?doc_id=171082
thats what i meant, sprint is just using it as a marketing term. there's alot more to 4g than just speed (ip-based service, security protocols, etc.) sprint's mobile wimax isn't even close to 128mbps.
Android > Windows Mobile 6.5 I rather wait for a Windows Phone 7 if I was going with windows mobile. Actually, I have the Nexus One and Tmobile may not have "4G" but they do have HSDPA. Which is faster than 3G (7.2Mbps for HSDPA). But damn, wish this phone came out for TMobile.
There is no "minimum speed limit" specification for 4G. 4G is simply the next generation of wireless communication technology after 3G. In fact, even though LTE has gained more popularity, both LTE and Wimax at this point are candidates that have been submitted to the ITU-R as 4G specs. Wimax is just a commercial name for an IEEE wireless standard - 802.16. Yes, LTE seems to be much more promising, but saying Wimax isn't 4G is a silly farce at best.
call it pre-4g then. kinda like before 802.11n was standardized they used to call the routers pre-n routers. this is all nit picking, it's just a pet peeve of mine.
Yea but this phone has the required 4 buttons for Windows Phone 7....hmmmmm. On another note, I wished this phone came with a keyboard. Ahh well, I will just wait for the Touch Pro 3.
So I'm gonna ask...for a 1 phone single plan...what does everyone recommend? I'm talking about prices, plans, service, and available phones. T-Mobile? ATT? Verizon? Sprint?
Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of them. I say start with a phone you like and go from there. Because it doesn't matter how good your plan is or how much coverage you get when your phone is crap. Personally, I've been with TMobile since I got my first phone in 2003 and never had problems. Plus most of my friends have tmobile so that helps.
That's pretty damn sweet. Too bad it's on Sprint. I wish this wasn't getting dropped with Windows Mobile 6, considering Series 7 is right around the corner. Otherwise it's a beast.
