    I agree with this 100%

His biggest plus is that the players love playing for him, but i dont think that is enough to offset the lack of elite playcalling and elite strategizing during a stacked west when no doubt every possession will mean something.
Hopefully the talent can carry us but i dont see that being enough without an above average strategist , which mchale unfortunately is not

McHale is an awful coach and I mean it. The best thing you could say he's good at is player development and ego management but he was about to bench Terrence Jones THIS YEAR AGAIN until Dwight Howard asked him to give TJ playing time.

He has two elite rim protectors and doesn't even bother to install a legitimate system for this teams defense. He has a top 5 offensive player in the NBA and the best he he can come up for him is an Iso. The only thing he does is make subistitutions. Questionable ones at that. And people say this offense is "read and react" but that's a sorry excuse for saying they play pick-up game basketball. Hence, the constant turnovers. The entire team is very unorganized on both ends and it's embarrassing.

McHale is certainly not McFail, as some wanted to call him. No matter how you slice it, 4th seed at a stacked Western Conference is no easy feat, even though we have H-H combo. At least, he's keeping our stars happy.

His freelancing style is quite suitable for our personnel. However, if we want to go far, we have to be more disciplined and play a lot better defense, collectively. Just like our team, can and should be upgraded, if we still have championship as a goal, coaching staff need to be upgraded too.

McHale's in-game adjustment is really subpar, and his approach to drive our young stars to death on every game can't last. He has yet to show that he can have the team to play well-organized half-court game, which would be crucial in playoffs when things get a lot tougher.

No, I am not dreaming of Pop or Rick Carlisle for we are not getting them, nor am I thinking about JVG. As much as I love JVG, I think he'll have a heart attack after 5 games experiencing how we play defense. Our players probably would quit on JVG too.

McHale is like Mike Brown, or D'Antoni, who happened to be in the right situation with the right team. Can we have Rick back?

This team has a small window...and there are more qualified candidates out there. The rockets should do whatever is in their best interest to maximize performance.

I'm nuetral with McHale. He's a solid coach, he's one of the main reasons Dwight signed here, and I think we have met expectations this year... However, with George Karl available, I'd hate to miss an opportunity to snag him up if we did make a change.

To me McHale is a players manager rather than a coach. Would be nice to have an upgrade over him but who is really available out there?

McHale's fatal flaw is how the half court offense operates.... Too few screens, too little player movement off the ball.... James Harden's individual ability to break down the defense is the main reason why this offense has had success..... Hopefully, McHale won't run Harden into the ground with excessive minutes during the postseason. Same goes for Beverley and Parsons.

In the postseason, defenses take away the transition game. And teams that execute best in the half-court offense will advance to the later rounds. This is my number one concern with the Rockets.

If we can set more screens, move more away from the ball, use the midrange game to a degree, and extend the bench, we will go at least two rounds into the postseason. And McHale will deserve a contract extension.

But if we continue standing around, set only one screen per possession, and only go 8 deep each game, it will be another painful first round exit. And a coaching upgrade will be needed.

hmmm but if we somehow win it this season what will you say then. LOL People didn't think Coach Spo was a championship caliber coach and he has 2 now working on a 3rd one.

The record speaks for itself. McHale has done a pretty good job this season. Yeah yeah yeah some of his rotation is crazy but we are the 4th seed and making our 2nd appearance in the post season under his watch.

We're going nowhere with a racist coach.

If the Rockets make it to the west finals, then he's not a bad coach at all.

That can be said about Phil Jackson, great manager of ego's but he needed Tex Winters to bring the triangle offense to take him over the top.

If they could have that type of offensive mind on the team as an assistant then maybe, but if we don't have that we won't get over the hump with McHale alone.

Indifferent towards him as a coach but I am impressed with how he has handled Lin.

Lack of in game adjustment is the key problem. Otherwise a good coach.

You make an assumption here as McHale doesn't have enough of a track record in playoff series for us to make an educated observation.

Wasn't last year against OKC was his first playoff appearance as a coach ??? I don't believe that he ever had a playoff team in Minny.
That team was way overmatched against the Thunder WestBrick or no , yet they made a fight of it.

This is why I say I'll withhold judgment until after the playoffs are over or they make their exit whichever comes first.

I want to see if he makes the right adjustments and pulls the right strings as far as rotation goes.

At this point , we simply don't know how he will answer these questions. This team offers him the opportunity to take a strong contender rather than the also ran he had last season & show his value as a coach.
