I will give him an A because this is first year for him to play as a starter and a franchise player. He has to carry an exceptional load on offense and I think he did a great job, as a No. 1 scorer in his first year. Of course, he has holes in his game and he defnitely need to improve his D, next year, the standard for him will be higher.
James Harden:A- Omer Asik: B+ Chandler Parson:B+ Jeremy Lin:B Patrick Beverly:B Terrence Jones B- Francisco Garcia:B- Carlos Deflino C+ Greg Smith:C Montiejunas C Thomas Robinson:C- Aaron Brooks:C- James Anderson:C- Royce White:F Kevin McFail:F
Is there a better way to quantify these opinions using poling? Nobody really cares about what "your" opinions, but they do care when it is "our" opinion as a whole group consensus.
That would be a huge poll. If a mod bothers to add it, I don't mind. Interesting idea though. But problem with that is that with several players the poll wouldn't really be useful. With Lin for instance he'll probably get an A on a poll. With this I can also see WHY someone thinks they should rate as they did, which is just as important as the rating itself.
Well then it might be cleaner than to have separate threads & polls for players, or groups of players like a thread for - -Harden -McHale & co. -Lin -Bench(Delfino, Garcia, Smith) -Rookie PF's (Jones, D-Mo, etc.) -Morey -overall team -etc. It could be alot of threads, but its hard to judge consensus here without measurement.
Actually, the LOF would rate Lin lower since they had high expectations on him; the LOH, on the other hand, would rate Lin higher since they thought he was bad, all hype.
Big Lin fan here, I'd give him a B- or a c+. He showed flashes of what he's capable of but hes too inconsistent, and can be a little b**** at times and shy away too much
I could actually see ranking Lin anywhere from D to A+. He played all 82 games, adjusted without complaining, and dramatically improved his weaknesses. At the same time, he didn't come close to Linsanity numbers for those who expected that, and he didn't strut Linsanity style often enough to inspire such confidence (can you imagine Beverly's strut if he averaged what Lin averaged this year?).
Anyone who expected Linsanity again was just being stupid. You can't give Lin bad grades just because your expectations were just dumb to begin with. If Morey expected Linsanity, he would've had to pay more than average starting PG salary for Lin. Lin put up a "B" season. He improved every month, and he proved that he's a starter in the league.
Not saying he expected linsanity numbers, but didnt he give him the max possible salary legally allowed?
I agree with a B for Lin, but he did have the hardest "test", in that he's had to change his style of game more than anyone else on team. I give him extra credit for that. If he was allowed to play more as a true PG, I think he would have gotten at least a B+ this year with this way his game has progressed.
