I went to All-Star Friday night. I was surprised that I was able to get a ticket after showing up there about 10 minutes before the Rising Stars Challenge game. I was even more surprised by the number of empty seats once I enterred the Toyota Center

All star weekend shouldn't be held in Houston. This was terrible. Empty seats, dead crowd. Ugh.

have none of you ever watched ASG events? This is what it's always like. The majority of the seats go to NBA sponsors/affiliates and these bigwigs take their time getting to their seats and don't like cheering. Houston, by all accounts, has been killing it this weekend.

The production of the tv brodcast was off which made it very akward. Lots of silent moments and akward transitions

We have more people in this site than Rockets games at the TC.

This is par for the course for most all star weekends. Most of the entertainment is outside of the arena. The product on the floor is usually garbage.

Who sets the ticket prices? Is it Houston or the NBA? The only establishments making money are the shops, hotels, reataurants, etc. At least, it's bringing $$$$ to the city.

Did I hear right that next year, it would be in New Orleans?

Yep, upper bowl tickets were going for $300+. People are just out of their seats cuz this is boring.

Okay, so I guess that's Houston's fault that most of the seats are reserved for celebrities and their families while the real fans can't even get a ticket. It's dead b/c rich folks are too cute or cool to cheer like the real fans.

If they made the prices more reasonable, maybe the average REAL fan can go.

This is how it is and it's expected. All of the lower bowl is for corporate sponsors and they are out doing sponsor things. That's why they have seat fillers for Fri and Sat night (I got to be one last time). Trust, it will look full come the dunk contest. That's all anyone cares about.

Think about it this way. The casual fane isn't tuning in go see the stuff before the dunk contest, so why would the sponsors that are there for free?

Where are you hearing that we are killing it this weekend? This isn't a challenge on your word. I'm just curious to know what's being said about our hosting performance since we are still bidding on other big events, like the SB.

Not only were the seats empty but the crowd was in a coma! Did they all take a muscle relaxer, this was one of the worst crowds I've ever seen!
