This kid needs to get his head on straight before his career is over before it even had a chance to start.

 

Bates chose the right team that gives him the ultimate green light. How much it regains his stock remains to be seen but good for him. He was rotting in Memphis in a toxic environment. Horrible choice from the get go

 

don't care about his scoring. show me his defense. show me his playmaking for others.

 

you're following the wrong player if you're focused primarily on the latter two

 

So Bates goes from ungodly overrated as the #1 player in his class… he reclassifies and goes to college a year early - and now isn’t even getting drafted in most “experts” mock drafts?

He is going to get drafted if he comes out… the handle and shooting is real and the smoothness turning the corner… the mediocre frame and lack of elite athleticism is true too… but he is deserving of a chance, he has the upside of a longish scorer that will give effort defensively.

 

Worth a look with that clips pick

 

That clips pick could be near-lottery. You think Bates is worth that? He shoots 40% FG and 33% from college 3, and isn't exactly known for defense. He seems like a guy who has to be the focus of an offense to be effective. He has good handles, but not sure about much else right now.
