Not really. Dog mentality isn’t developed by a coach. He isn’t forcing that upon anyone. It’s either you have it or you don’t. His culture separates dogs and those who are passive. There’s a consistency in all the guys he recruits since he’s been at UH. It hasn’t changed and won’t. There’s dogs who all come out of hs. Shead is a perfect example and he’s going to be the starting pg for years to come
same thoughts I had. He just trains on jumpshots and he has always been weak. That's why you need a second opinion other than your dad. Also, the constant barking in HS he would do on open dunks were annoying.
Alot of parents and their sons can't handle losing and it creates a crazy insecurity. I started a free AAU team full of TRUE 6th graders . We got our asses beat at a tournament by fake 6th graders. My players left and went to join a name brand AAU team that has them playing against 4th graders and they're paying top dollar for that.
I never said it was developed by a coach but coaches can bring that out of a player. My point is if you are just recruiting "dogs" you miss out on guys like Durant, AD, Harden etc so not great coach is gonna pass up guys just because they are not dogs in HS.
Plenty of coaches pass on them for various reasons. Doesn’t mean they’re wrong for running their program the way they want. The durants, ad, harden of the world are rare.
That or going the g-league route or at least thats the feeling you get from reading memphis fans posts
He'll need to transfer to a more structured program much like Grimes had to do to get back on the right path. Refresh and be held accountable without all the hype and not surrounded by a bunch of egos at Memphis like Grimes was at Kansas. At least next year is truly the 1st year he should be in college.
