Unless they broke them up this offseason, the Cardinals OL is actually pretty decent. I mean hell, they made freakin Thomas Jones and Shipp look decent at different points in the season. Jake Plummer isn't as huge a loss as people make it seem. They played most of the season without Boston last year, so ... I could see Emmitt putting up close or better numbers than what he did last year, if he stays healthy. But its sad to see a great player hang on way past his prime. Sadder still when he's doing it almost solely for stats.
Jones has NEVER looked decent. Shipp, yes... And I agree with you 100% about him doing to pad his stats. He was a great RB, but was always looking out for himself way before the team. I'm sorry, but his selfish attitude doesn't really respect who he is.
Didn't Jones have like 200+ yards against Seattle last year? While not a world-stopping defense by any means, 200 yards is ALWAYS impressive.
Well, early in this last season Thomas did ok before he messed up his ankle, but yeah, he does suck. People are starting to overrate Shipp imo. I am glad Emmitt and the Cowboys have parted ways. The only reason I think he got that much play last year was because of the stupid record deal. Not that I think Hambrick is some savior or anything ... And the stupid commentators endlessly lobbying for Emmitt last year was grating on my nerves, esp the Sunday night crew.
Well you have to take a couple things into account when trying to figure out why Emmitt signed with the Cards. First reason ... no one else offered him a contract. Other teams like Tampa and Carolina expressed an interest but neither offered a contract. Tampa was up against the cap and RB is not exactly their biggest area of need considering they already have two guys that are more than capable. They also have other holes they need to fill. Carolina went with the younger Stephen Davis. No other team even expressed an interest. Second reason ... he wanted to start. He has never been a backup his entire career so you can imagine how hard it would be for him to be a backup now. Even if Tampa offered him a contract he would not have been the starter. He has the chance to start in Arizona. I don't think he will do as bad in Arizona as some people think. The o-line in Dallas last year was by far worse than what the Cards will put on the field this year. The QB's and WR's are were comparable to what they will be this year for the Cards. Emmitt faced 8 man fronts all year and managed to rack up 900+ yards. The Cards have not had a RB rush for 900+ yards in over 3 years and that includes Shipp and Jones. Personally it is going to be a sad day for me to see Emmitt running around in that Cards uni. I wish he would have just retired. This picture someone posted on a Cowboys board almost made me vomit.
