Depending on QB play, I see no other reason as to why next year's team won't be better than this years.
We will never know (and that's the sad part) since he never got to play any of the skill positions on offense or defense. I'm not saying he would be a pro QB, but he was definitely one of the high rated prospects in the state coming out of HS.
One more thing, Trahan wasn't good enough to crack the 2 deep at any position at Texas, but that doesn't mean he couldn't elsewhere. Who knows, he could have been QB at A&M or elsewhere.
Trahan was highly rated but so were a lot of other QB recruits throughout UT history that have never lived up to expectations. Todd Dodge, Bret Stafford, Shea Morenz, etc. etc etc..... Even Peter Gardere who beat Oklahoma 4 times was only an average college QB and he was the 10th ranked player in the state when he signed. Beau Trhan - Good guy, great Special teams player but that's about it.
I didn't watch the game because I had a bad hangover from last night, but I am not surprised that texas won this one because it wasn't a big game, and Mack and Simms are masters of these types of games. As for this hex in dallas?? gimme a break, talk about making a story out of nothing. It's not a dallas hex, its a big game hex, most of Mack's biggest games have been in dallas, and he hasn't won them. also, my uncle is a huge UT fan, and I thought he brought up a good point in saying that "mack brown should stop constantly referring his players as "the kids," because it makes it sound like if the players make huge mistakes, they do not have to feel that bad about them because mack will always say in the end that these "are still kids." Doesn't Bob Stoops call his players "young men",or "men"?, i do not hear "the kids" coming out of his mouth that much. Mack should have his players be more accountable for their mistakes.
JBII, I concur. All it proves is that in a 2nd class bowl against a mediocre opponent, Chris Simms and the Longhorns shine. DD
