    Gmail will.

    Yahoo claims they won't.

That may be worth the $20/y Yahoo fee.

The advertisement in completely unintrusive and they don'tt sel your e-mail adress. In fact, I don't even notice the ads when I check my mail.

People are really blowing this out of proportion.

I heard that Yahoo was having DNS problems yesterday and it may be still lingering today. Yahoo Messenger totally crapped on me for about 20 earlier today and another friend of mine has had the same problem. She hasnt been able to log on all day.

OK, I registered with Yahoo for the extensive server space, but I can't seem to find a way to access my account through third-party software like MS Outlook.

Is this not possible? I currently use Hotmail through Outlook, but it appears that Mr. Gates is now lagging behind the boom in the free e-mail server storage space wars.

If you have SBC/Yahoo, then yes, it is... does that make sense? like for example, my email address has been for quite some time mrg123@sbcglobal.net, but since sbc has merged with yahoo, I can still get my email through Outlook, it's just on a different server now. But I don't think it is possible if you have just Yahoo. They've really got a lock-down on that stuff..... maybe if you go searching into the deep dark corners of the internet, you can find a way around it.

Easiest way around it is to pay them their $20 annual fee. Then you get outlook access (and 2gb storage).

    Sucks. But that's their hook.

Those of you that experienced slowness should be fast now. The transtion was bogging down the Yahoo servers. They also moved to faster Netapp drives (which you should've noticed).

The reason for Yahoo doing this is because of competition from Google! :D
