TJ's record number of posts about the Democratic field has me already thinking that the Democrats have won the 2008 election. It's just a matter of who now.
Something to think about: After all the heavyweights in the WC slug it out, the bloodied winner has to take on the EC winner, who typically is not nearly as sullied.
But who typically loses anyway. The GOP race, where there are five very possible nominees and the party is very unhappy with their choices, is far more contested than the Dem one, where there are three possible choices and the party is very happy with them. You think the Dems are going to come out of their primaries more bloodied than the Republicans? I guess it's nice to have a dream.
No dreaming here. The only two I like don't stand a chance in Hades. I'm just strolling the sidelines, watching the action, pontificating when amused and waiting to see whether I will actively enter the game on behalf of one candidate or the other. That said, I see the Big Three Demos biting and scratching each other like lions on a dead zebra. I don't see the Republicans going at each other with the same ferocity.
How can Guliani lose? He is tough on terrorists, invoking 9/11 a ala Georgie and is now tough on immigration. Think of him as Georgie without Georgie.
dude, havent you ever read one of his op ed pieces in the Post? He absolutely KILLS neocons. side note, the guy looks like Costanza.
Where's Mike Gravel? I was thinking the same thing that Hillary is the Spurs, tough, methodical and you know somewhere there is Bruce Bowen waiting to leg whip you.
Gravel has to be a Clipper -- a loser all the way around with no wind in his sails but a lot of water under his bridge and in his bilge!
What about the push polls saying John McCain was insane from his time as a POW and that he fathered a illegitimate black child ?
Hilary is the Jazz. Methodical, efficient, boring, uninspiring, willing to bend or break the rules to get her way, especially since she knows that when the games on the line she won't get it called on her. She's been around forever, no one really likes her, but everyone respects her because she's relevant almost every year.
The sleeper that has all the ingredients for a big win, but everyone is simply waiting on to announce its/his arrival?
If Gore was going to run he almost definitely would have announced before the New Hampshire filing deadline which was Nov. 2. Even the Draft Gore people have given up hope.
Interestingly, it appears as though Obama/Edwards may expand on their attacks and focus in on whether Hillary can bring about change, or whether she is part of the established institution of partisan rancor and bitterness that we see today. Hillary is hands down the most polarizing figure in this race. Can she bring about change in terms of the adversarial relationship between conservatives and libs? Obviously you know the answer to that question is a big fat no. I look for Obama and Edwards to harp on this in the coming weeks. Really, the only shot they have to win the nomination is to win Iowa and have Hillaroid stumble all over herself like Howard Bone Saw Dean did. I would be ecstatic watching Hillaroid give a concession speech to her fans in Iowa. As you recall, that's where Bone Saw slipped up. And if of course if that scenario plays out, and Edwards takes Iowa, then you can expect Hellafat to step up her attacks and make this Obama smear look like child's play.
I have never thought Gore was going to run. He has found a purpose in his life outside of the Beltway.
I wish he would change his mind. It still isn't too late. Democrats are not unhappy with their choices, but they are not thrilled, either. It's like applying to Stanford, MIT, Harvard, and Rice. You get accepted by Rice, but not the others. Rice is an excellent choice and you may be lucky to get in, but not what you really wanted. I look at the Democratic field and don't see what I really wanted. Are any of them better than the GOP possibilities? Pretty much all of them are better. That doesn't make me feel any better about it. D&D. Attempt Civility! Impeach Bush for Promoting Torture.
I agree with you in that I prefer Gore to any in the current field, but we're not representative of the mainstream of the party that way. More than 70% are happy with their choices. That's extraordinarily high. And I'm guessing that that stat is the main reason Gore has elected not to run.
All of them are better than all of the GOP possibilities? I guess you and TJ have something in common.
