He has a few decent songs, but for every good one there are so many that are unlistenable. Crocodile Rock is enough to make one insane - in a bad way - when it gets stuck in your head. I totally disagree with Bennie and the Jets, thats a horror show. The good ones, to me: Empty Garden I Guess Thats Why The Call It The Blues Rocketman is okay Sad Songs maybe Dont Go Breakin My Heart Whatever Gets You Through The Night Daniel Everything else is pretty rough, and dude has been cranking them out for a long time. You guys know how he creates his music, right - its the weirdest thing ever. Bernie Taupin writes the words and sends them to him. Elton John fiddles around with them and puts them to music, goes to the studio to record a vocal and piano track, and is just done with it. He does not produce, mess with other musicians, do anything like that. Kind of amazing.

It's funny that I make my living playing in a piano bar, so I'm a little torn on this one. I actually really appreciate Elton John for his talent and songwriting. If it wasn't for Elton John and Billy Joel, I'd probably have to get a real job. The funny thing is that I've never really felt comfortable doing Elton John songs. His music to me is very pretty and I'm not very good at singing or playing "pretty" music so I feel out of my element whenever I have to do Rocket Man or Tiny Dancer or Your Song, etc... Slowly I'm getting a little more comfortable doing those songs though. Overall, though I give Elton a Yay.
"Tiny Dancer" is always stuck in my head. Always. Only when I sing it it becomes "Hold me closer, Tony Danza" which I think was what the original lyrics were.
Good love making song that always gets my lady in the mood.... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/pVu599FRS08&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/pVu599FRS08&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Simply.Incredible.Song

i disagree. not about the classic part, about whether it's "Impossible to screw up." if you can't stay in tune, you shouldn't be singing.
If this was the case, we would not have a modern masterpiece... YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU GOT WHAT I NEED!!!!!!!! <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/QMEPFZa4ZQo&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/QMEPFZa4ZQo&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
The strongest 6 albums to start a career in rock history. you could make an arguement that the list ought to be eight, and include Caribou and Captain Fantastic. but by Rock of the Westies, the quality started to drop off...
Almost every album Elton John put out from 1971 to 1975 went to number one. And while not all of it was great, it was a hell of a lot better than most. And Davey Johnstone's guitar work, especially on Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, is superb. 1) Madman Across the Water 2) Goodbye Yellow Brick Road 3) Tumbleweed Connection
Wrong again. Bob Dylan Freewheelin' Bob Dylan Times They Are A'Changing Another Side of Bob Dylan Bringing It All Back Home Highway 61 Revisited Blonde on Blonde Served.
I like the rock pianist who married his teenage cousin over the gay one, but the gay one is still pretty awesome.
