Dude, no way. And I love Tyson. The lengths that others have gone to denigrate Elton's career until last spring amazes me. Not saying you're doing that, and I know he had a career year this season, but this guy's been a winner since the beginning -- and it's nice that the Clippers finally put people around him closer to their primes. Totally. As a fan, I want Nazr, maybe Gooden, and that's about it. I love Przybilla, but not on the Bulls. Put him out there with Tyson (which is the whole point of this summer's moves) and you're playing 3-on-5. I'd throw some cash at Gooden, if only to get Cleveland to overspend, and go after Nazr's big butt. I just like the cap space for the potential, the ability to take advantage of other teams looking to trade.
From an idiot, me: I believe Troy Murph is the #1 icon for the Rox 4 (with Yal and Tracy). If GS wants a salary dump then JuHo is @25% cheaper, use fill to get it a full 25% savings for W's, give them the #8 and move 'forward'!
that was an even deal. since people didnt really keep up with OT post Rockets, OT helped the Pistons with Grant Hill to the playoffs, he played well. Clyde lead us to an NBA title. However, OT helped the Rockets establish the solid foundation for the 1st championship. Dream really trusted OT and OT was co-captain of that 94 team. Also it was Dream and OT holding up Dream's MVP trophy.
Yes like: "if we hadn't drafted Micheal Jordan we might not have won 6 championships in 8 years." After that kind of success I think the Bulls fans should be able to stomach a little adversity.
Nobody should have to sit through bad basketball. That's pretty silly. So, because the Rockets got Hakeem, they should be able to stomach a little-less adversity? Come on. The Rockets may be the only team that can get something out of Murph. His defense is so bad at this point that he's probably beyond saving, but he won't be able to pad his stats with Yao hauling in boards, and Ming desperatly needs a shooter who can hit all those baseline and FT line jumpers that horribly Howard missed last year.
We're comparing one of the 50 greatest/Hall of famer/ numerous all-star selections/gold medal olympian/ career 20+ ppg 6rpg 5.5 apg to Otis Thorpe? Come on.... People outside of Houston didn't recognize Otis Thorpe post Rockets or not.
You definitely know your stuff about Chicago. Chandler's impact has always been beyond the stats and if he finally spends an offseason working on his game (namely his jumper), the Bulls have a keeper. But trading for Murphy is ludicrous. I'm not paying someone $50 million over the next 5 years to hit open jump shots and hang on to some loose rebounds. He does literally nothing else, worst defensive PF in the league along with Chris Webber.
I'm big on Troy Murphy, he'll make more J's than Juwan and stretch out the D. Not mention he will still likely grab more rebounds than Juwan anyway, he may get hurt defensively but i think he'll give up less than Juwan did simply because he's a bigger body. And i wouldn't give GS our number 8 unless we get their #9 in return. But he's the only Pf that's available that can shoot threes AND rebound.
The idea at the time was that Brand's numbers were inflated in a big man depleted east. Brand is shorter than most of the star power forwards and not many expected him to be even better in the west. Plus, this was during the high school drafting craze.
Not saying the Rockets should trade for him, nobody should with that contract, I'm just saying that the Houston system and personnel might provide him with the only NBA environment that could make up for his limitations. I wasn't pretty clear in that post. I don't know who could trade for him (with that contract) at tihs point. And Invisible, you can't make excuses for Krause. You just don't trade a co-ROY and #1 pick from two years prior to another team for JUST a #2 pick in that year's draft.
maybe not, but when you've won 6 championships in the relatively close past, to ask what if is not to be a fan of that team. to say "thank you God, thank you God, thank you God!" is to be a fan of that team.
Otis Thorpe TEAM CAPTAIN Otis Thorpe ALL STAR Otis Thorpe Career 55% FG Otis Thorpe 9+ years with the Rockets Otis Thorpe 9+ years with the Dream Im here to educate people outside Houston. Otis was well missed. Many TEAMMATES said they wanted to QUIT after the trade because they loved OT. That was not a lopsided trade, OT helped Dream for many years and we won a championship with OT playing against Karl Malone, vs Barkley, vs Anthony Mason . OT was a Rocket hero. OT is like Robert Reid, not a HOF, but an ALL TIME ROCKET.
The problem i have with many Bulls fans that i have met, is that they stopped being fans once the Jordan teams dismantled. To be a true fan you have to sit through it all, KD you're a living example of of team loyalty. I know Chicago based fans are loyal, but many outside the US are simply bandwagon fans and most of them went for the Bulls, and don't anymore. OT is a Rocket legend...he was a freakin brick wall who held that thing like a baseball--he is missed, reminds me of the days when PF's played like POWER forwards.
Not to mention being one of the best outlet passers the Rocks have ever had. In the fall of 1988 the Rockets began shuffling players to restock the roster. They sent Carroll and Lester Conner to the New Jersey Nets for Tim McCormick and Frank Johnson and packaged Rodney McCray and Jim Petersen to Sacramento for Otis Thorpe. The Thorpe trade would pay quick dividends. A 6-10 power forward from Providence with hands as big as frying pans, Thorpe provided some help for Olajuwon inside and would consistently rank among the league leaders in both field-goal percentage and dunks. From 1987 to 1993 Thorpe registered 878 dunks, second only to Charles Barkley during that period. http://www.sportsbooks.com/national_basketball_association/nba_history/houston_rockets.shtml#14 And man, what a clutch player Reid was! (when he wasn't singing to Calvin! )
