This talking point is so dumb. Twitter can't arbitrarily ban accounts that haven't violated their TOS. Whether you are a Twitter user is not and should not be construed as a moral judgment on your political positions.

the TOS rules are so vague and arbitrarily enforced, and they give zero explanation when they ban/censor you, so it's effectively meaningless

case in point the newly created rule to ban "hacked/stolen materials", which they hastily created after the fact to censor the Hunter Biden laptop story (even though the laptop wasn't stolen or hacked)

Smart move by Elon. By inviting him onto the board with the agreement they were proposing, that was just going to tie his hands behind his back and enable them to drag this out with endless political and bureaucratic posturing. Those people clearly cannot be trusted, and his decision not to accept this board seat demonstrates that he understands that.

If he wants to affect change at Twitter, which is a heroic effort on his part, it is going to require him to move forward towards acquiring effective control of the company. That does not have to mean him buying a straight up majority of shares. He can partner with other shareholders of a like mind to achieve this same objective. It is likely to get ugly, if he continues to move ahead with this. I and many others hope that he does.

If that's the case, criticize that. I don't care if Twitter allows the Chinese communist party or the Taliban to have a Twitter account, as long as they adhere to the rules.

Amazing. As long as they keep the human rights violations in their country, all is good. Just dont hurt someones feelings for calling someone the wrong gender.

Would you be ok with Putin on twitter?

"All is good" has nothing to do with it and is not what I said.

You can hurt anyone's feelings, and worse. Just not on their platform.

Yes. It's too easy to abuse if you start removing accounts on political/moral grounds. There needs to be clearly stated terms of use for the platform and they should strive to enforce those rules consistently. Though higher rates of enforcement for accounts with high number of followers or for egregious violations makes sense to me.

    As mentioned before
Just making it not free to post . Contributing members are least likely to troll because it would cost money making all those accounts

Probably more to do with the teachers being doxxed and their lives threatened...

One of the ones posted in another thread, a repost from that very account, you had people doxxing the teacher right in the replies...

I hope Musk manages to take away all blocks on Twitter regarding "censorship" - no holds bar and all content is allowed no matter how dishonest, disgusting, or vile. It will kill the platform in a blink of an eye as once the mainstream population moves off of it, it will become the next Truth Social.

There's a reason why Truth Social failed.

Twitter would turn into the D&D
    And that means the
    @AroundTheWorld @Os Trigonum @Space Ghost @rocketsjudoka @Nook @J.R.

    Of that arena would rule

    and @tinman

And making members pay to contribute eliminates the trolls

Or it turns it into a publishing platform where the wealthiest have the biggest voice.

All depends on the implementation. But think for a moment...what would a megabillionaire who's frustrated with a platform that he feels stifles the voices he agrees with...what would he want?

He wants his voice, and those of certain people to be magnified. That's his true idea of free speech.
