Even the venerable, conservative WSJ refused to post the story initially because of the way it smelled. Rudy Giuliani hasn’t exactly been a trustworthy source… the man went to Eastern Europe to go find Biden dirt and viola…

Nah, not really. Cheating doesn't guarantee a win. I have been consistent in my thoughts here.

 

I don't think it is even close. 2016 was against a candidate. 2020 was about a candidate's son. Now Elon keeps screaming about getting rid of the bots. It is known in 2016 Russia and other countries were running disinformation campaigns, with bots, on social media to try and get Trump elected. Now do we know if those campaigns were the thing that pushed Trump over the top? No, but it didn't hurt.

Now it isn't like the FBI went and took down the NYPost article. They didn't shut down the NY Post website. The FBI warned Twitter and others about Russia pulling the same **** they had been pulling for years. They did not specify the Post article. Twitter took it upon themselves to say. "The Russians keep putting out disinformation. Is this laptop story more of the same? Why didn't they release this story 6 months ago? This could be more false political bullshit. We need to do our due diligence." Twitter had no duty or obligation to amplify the NY Post's reach.

In retrospect, I would have worded that differently.

 

This is an error that many people make with this. These folks were not saying the laptop wasn't Hunter Biden's but rather the NY Post Story was Russian disinfo. The idea that the laptop showed incriminating info on Joe Biden is the disinformation, not that the laptop belonged to Hunter Biden. A lot of people doubted it was hunter biden's laptop incorrectly, but to date I have not see any intelligence official current or former ever say much on that.

again, the FBI had the laptop for almost a year. I see your point but I believe you are splitting hairs. The FBI had plenty of time to analyze both the laptop and the content; it appears they did analyze each; and they misleadingly briefed the intelligence community for whatever reason(s).

 

These are former intelligence folks for one, and two, even in this quote they are saying they don't know, but that they are suspicious. Certainly good to be suspicious about the contents given the circumstances.

They weren't wrong, they never made a claim, just that they had big suspicions.

The Post story was claiming that there was proof of Joe Biden being involved. There was not. That is misinformation.
