Elon vs Twitter update: Elon helped America win , Tesla stock through the roof

OK, but that’s not how Musk was describing free speech just a short while ago:

 

Not going to defend every statement by Elon.

 

Which free speech stance do you agree with more — the one he had before the acquisition, or the one he has adopted since?

 

They didn’t really have much respect.

 

So pre acquisition Elon didn’t know what the 1st amendment actually applies to or he is expanding the 1st amendment?

 

Elon has never understood, nor cared for, free speech or the 1st amendment. That was just his way of manipulating the crazy-right to fawn over him because they don't understand it either. And that - people worshipping him - is what he cares about.

 

I think by now, most of us should realize that it's whatever Musk thinks it is today. One day it's this and another day it's that. The inconsistency (including 180 flip flops, contradictions) is common and expected, reaching the point of being stale and boring.

That doesn't mean free speech/content moderation is boring. That's a very important topic for other social media platforms. For Twitter, you should not expect free speech but Musk's speech.

 

I don't find it boring.

If there is evidence the the FBI was telling Twitter the kind of content that it could have on it's site, that would be concerning.

If the FBI was sharing accounts that it identified as foreign and were being used by foreign intelligence to spread misinformation, that's within the purvey of what the FBI is suppose to be doing.

Thus far, all I have heard or see is that there were meetings with the FBI - but nothing around what happened in those meetings.

Yes. If Twitter has a policy in place against allowing fake news from foreign bot farms and the FBI has information indicating which accounts are from such bot farms, then it seems totally reasonable for there to be some communication channel for relaying that information. I understand the concerns over how such channels can be abused by the government to control speech on social platforms, and there needs to be proper guardrails for preventing that.

 

No more billionaire "heroes" PLEASE, oh lawddddd. Not good for anybody to have these people speak on society's behalf.

 

That's a pretty niche group of people. Like maybe 4 people.
