That highlight video reminds me of Scola's. Everyone was mad because it was just all layups. I guess Euroleague doesn't find jumpshots exciting.
Eliyahu can only come here if this guy becomes our PA announcer <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/pc9wpTuwaY8&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/pc9wpTuwaY8&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

I don't think this is about him necessarily fittig here. If he gets enough attention, value and anticpation build. We could get a low to mid 1st rounder someday for this guy. Never underestimate the heart of a "Wizard" -dram-
While you're right, I think the "big man shooter" roster spot just got filled (for better or for worse) by Brian Cook. If Cook can drop some weight in the offseason and re-commit himself, he would likely be an upgrade over Leunen. The reality is that Cook's $3.5M player option for next year will be exercised and isn't going anywhere, at least not until the February 2010 trade deadline. For this reason, I think Leunen AND Eliyahu stay overseas. Luis Scola Carl Landry Chuck Hayes Joey Dorsey Brian Cook Too many PFs on the roster for next season to add yet another one. Newley may be a possibility, though. Lior and Maarty will probably have to wait until 2010. If Eliyahu signs a big money deal, more power to him. We'll just bring Leunen over in that event.
He could also be a chip in helping the rockets get a 1st round pick in this upcoming draft. You never know, but I think the rockets can out right buy a pick as well.
I wouldn't be surprised if they gave him a contract just to establish a relationship and have a reason to phone his agent Leon Rose before 2010
Unless it's a mid-first rounder to be used on someone like an Earl Clark, then I'd much rather see Les just spend a little less money and get himself a high to middle second rounder. Remember, the Rockets apparently want to maximize their cap room in 2010. Why guarantee $1.5M to a late first rounder in 2010-11 when they can get a comparable player in the second round without having to guarantee that player any salary in 2010-11? As a side note, I'll be curious to see if there are more picks being sold in this year's draft or fewer. With these tough economic times, several teams are going to be selling. But will many teams be willing to buy them? Heck, even Portland (and Paul Allen's fat wallet) decided to take the more fiscally prudent route last week by NOT trading LaFrentz's (mostly insured) contract.
did anyone read the back and forth muslim/jew banter in the comments? talk about racism. forget miley cyrus. those two guys were hardcore hating on each other on the basis of race alone.
Its not that Portland didn't want to trade La Frentz, they couldn't find any deal better than just keeping La Frentz's expiring for themselves. A lot of teams had expirings but weren't really able to move them. Heck, our own Ron Artest was probably among the most valuable expiring contracts this season (since not only does he have an expiring deal, he's a good player in a contract deal so you get both short term and long term benefits to the asset), and we couldn't even find a taker worth our while. I think a lot of the teams will be willing to sell their picks since this is probably a very weak draft. The question is should we do it? We only have one roster slot left, and the good picks in the bottom of the 1st round and 2nd rounders are usually guards or forwards. Unfortunately we're already stocked at both guard and especially forward slots when Tmac comes back in his contract year and we resign Ron next season. The only position we're really lacking in is at C, and I haven't really heard of a good c being picked in the 2nd round. I'm more partial to the using the money we'd spend buying a pick to signing a vet big man (ala Joe Smith), or bringng back someone with more experience (Barrera, Harris, Pops Mensa Bonsuh) than getting a draft pick next year.
if i am the rockets i look to buy a 1st round draft pick and draft sg/sf from louisville terence williams no offense to von wafer but i just love terence williams game he would give rockets big 6-6 guard who can pass shoot rebound do little everything and i think he will excel in the nba
