You guys have to be complete morons if you think this promotion would stage a fight to have their one marketable star get his ass whipped in 15 seconds. Why would that be in their best interest? This guy has lost any hype he had. I predict CBS will not air another EliteXC event if it's at all possible.
That's a short term boost. Kimbo becoming a dominating legitimate MMA fighter would have provided a long term boost.
Uh... Kimbo was EliteXC's prize pony. They needed Kimbo to knock this guy the **** out in 8 seconds tonight to continue surviving... the company is all but dead now. why the **** would they have Kimbo take a dive if he is the only hope they have to not go belly-up?
Kimbo may not have been knocked out, but he was essentially, knocked out. He had no idea where he was and his attempt to take down the referee proved it.
Except that Brock Lesnar never got to play a single down in an actual NFL game where as Kimbo is given primetime spots.
I said the same freakin thing. LOL. I was like "I bet Seth was saying 'That's what you get for not shaking my hands'". Funny how tough he acts before the match and how weak he looks after it. What a difference in 10 seconds!
Exactly. They needed Kimbo to be like a young Mike Tyson. They needed him to be like he was in the youtube videos. They needed him to be a complete dominating badass. So what happens now, this other guy probably isn't going to do jack. He's not going to bring in viewers. Kimbo's not going to bring in as many viewers now that he got punked in 14 seconds. This puts Elite XC in a bind because the guy they sunk money into to get the casual fan just got his ass handed to him. They needed Kimbo to win in 14 seconds, not lose in 14 seconds.
Elite XC thought they had a perfect fight with Shamrock, but once he backed out they thought the replacement would be an easy tomato can KO -- FAIL. The guy who knocked out Kimbo is a bum -- the Slice hype is finished.
very sad. what did kimbo have to gain from this fight? could he not accept the bout or did he have too?

Elite XC is going to be fine. They got Arlovski on board, and Tito Ortiz is a week away from signing with them. They have the Shamrock brothers...I think they are just starting to blossom actually. Stranger things have happened though....
Kimbo isn't cut out for MMA anyway...he ought to go back to backyards and streets. He showed tonight why he has nothing but big guns. He a throwback to the old UFCs in the early 90's where there no rules or gloves. It's too much like an art now and he's just too raw.
Not sure how Petruzelli got power into that punch - it was all arm, he had one leg in the air, and was falling backwards. Must have hit him straight on the jaw.
I was thinking the same thing. Then he jumped on him and whiffed a few times. Must have hit him just right.
