good question, but i'm more interested in this: would you rather build around a dominant power forward or an MVP level power forward? Kevin Garnett - dominant Dirk Nowitzki - MVP level Karl Malone - dominant Tim Duncan - MVP level Charles Barkley - dominant Luis Scola - MVP level
Lmao what is this....Everyone of those were playing at MVP level at one point in their careers except Scola
(BESIDES Magic) I've said many times that even though its a guards and wings league now, that the super elite point guards don't seem to win championships past the few decades. No Stockton, no Kidd, no Nash, No CP3, Deron, D Rose. But then, that can be a case of Phil Jackson system crapping over the "traditional" point guard role winning HALF of ALL the rings since '91. Still in that time, only Chauncey Billups and Tony Parker could be considered elite point guards DURING their who WON rings. (Gary Payton and Jason Kidd well past their primes, Rajon Rondo '08 was a 2nd year role player) Am I saying I'd rather have Avery Johson than MAGIC Johnson or Kevin Johnson? No way. But maybe it shows that star WING + star BIG is the better recipe. I'd still take the ELITE point guard over the All Star though...
I would go with the all-star point guard because the elite point guard would probably only care about his stats and would be selfish. Great question though.
Elite>>>All Star. You can't even be elite without being an all star at one point or at least in the very near future.
