    So what all of you are saying, in response to the OP, is that you would do number 2 in an elevator. In fact, the OP himself confirms that he did number 2 in an elevator recently.

    I don't like elevators. Half the time you're in that situation because you let the women in first, meaning they're all now in the back of the car but etiquette says they should also get off first.
