I'm pessimistic. We'll either end up with a Bush administration that thinks it's been validated by another split vote or a Dem administration under attack starting on Nov. 3.
Yeah, this time will probably be a picture captioned "Defeat" with Hakeem holding the championship trophy...
in fairness to TJ, the previous pic wasn't created by him, but came from a site that specializes in off-beat motivational posters. i think the thrust of it was- this guy's a winner, how does it feel to be a loser?
Remember the liberals' fallout after the crushing defeat in the midterm elections? Can you even *begin* to imagine the anger, bitterness and frustration expressed by the liberals when Bush wins again? WOW. I really am concerned for their health. I mean, their level of pent-up aggression is reaching a boiling point *today*. If Bush wins another four more years, we'll have quite a few liberals on SUICIDE WATCH
It's interesting to note the similarities between the above post and what less erudite critics of some left-leaning web sites have to say... "You people are beyond evil. George W. Bush will be re-elected to a second term, and hopefully it will drive die-hard idiotic leftists to commit suicide, that would be the bonus round! Instead of b****ing about how much you hate George W. Bush and how he stole the election and went AWOL from the National Guard, why don't you rotten **********s spend your time and money and offer up a candidate who isn't a god-damned America-hating lunatic? You people are utterly useless to humanity and wholly better off dead, burning in eternal damnation. Ya know, I think it's too bad that we can't follow Saddam's model of dealing with opposition - just open up mass graves and start torturing, maiming, and murdering liberals and leftists by the millions - toss them into the ground, and fill the holes up with dirt. I would love to volunteer for such duty! Eat **** and die, all of you! J. Baker Phoenix" TJ, you're not in the best of company as you slowly slide down this slippery slope. I know you're trying to be cute, but it might behoove you to choose words more carefully. Maybe something like "Liberals will be nauseated for weeks when W wins."
I am just the messenger, mc mark. http://www.electionprojection.com/essay1.html 10. Florida is much more Republican now A startling event took place in 2002. It was startling both in its circumstances and in the lack of focus it received. That event was the Florida gubernatorial election. What happened there, when taken in the context of the voting debacle two years earlier, was truly phenomenal. I'll recap it for you: In 2002, Terry McAuliffe pledged that Jeb Bush, the president's own brother, would be defeated in his re-election bid. In fact, the DNC made the Florida governor's race their number one priority of the 2002 election cycle. Moreover, only two years removed from the spectacle of 2000, emotions and energy should have been be running extremely high among Democrats. Did we see massive Democratic turnout? Did Terry's threats come true, for once? Nope! What transpired was not a humiliating GOP defeat, but a Bush-brother victory by a count that exceeded Jeb's first election margin. He won by an amazing 13 points! It was a complete and utter repudiation of the revenge factor and clearly showed the strength of the GOP in that state. Without Florida as an obvious pickup target, the Democrats' options to gain ground shrink considerably.
Thanks for your inciteful comments regarding the original post... oh wait, that's right, you have none. As for your concern for our welfare I think I speak for the "lefties" on this board (and probably most who consider themselves left of you) when I say 'save it'. My pent up aggression only comes out when I have deal with say-nothings like you. Since you seem to have lost your flair for the visual arts, let me help you. Here's a message from our good friend Dave: The liberals and conservatives were having a very pleasant A -> B conversation in this thread before you stuck your nose in. Why don't you C your way out it.
by the way, ABC's The Note reports that senator kerry received SS protection as of midnight today. apparently other candidates requests have been received, but approval is not...imminent.
well they're not any saner over on dean's blogforamerica: -- The following is a compendium of comments posted on the Dean campaign site. WARNING: The level of vulgarity is high: had a nightmare last night. It was a commercial that said, "Health insurance premiums have gone up 800% because of malpractice lawyers like John Edwards waging frivilous law suits against good doctors. When doctors have to pay $40 million dollars, those costs are passed on to you, the average american trying to make ends meet. John Edwards wants you to think he's one of the little guys -- and then it cut to cut after cut of JE saying, "My daddy worked in a mill" -- Since when does the little guy make $40 million dollars on the backs of Americans? I awoke shaking. Posted by ST at February 18, 2004 12:36 PM *** Alex Polier's father had it correct the first time: Kerry is a "sleazeball." I will never, ever vote for Kerry. I will not vote for Edwards. And I have voted for the Democratic candidate in every election since I could vote. If Dean endorses either of those corrupt men, Dean does not speak for me. Moreover, Dean will prove himself to be as corrupt as they are. I will go Green--forever. So will my money. Posted by IndefatigableSpirit at February 18, 2004 12:48 PM *** hey there jk/je lurkers and trolls -- y'all will never have my time nor money -- and you certainly will not have my vote so pis* off Posted by jelly at February 18, 2004 01:04 PM *** If Kerry and Bush are the same, and Kerry wins, we get stuck with him for maybe 8 years! If Bush wins we have a chance in 08! KERRY CAN'T WIN! AT ALL COST! Even if that means BUSH! Posted by Frisbeedude at February 18, 2004 01:11 PM *** I suppose that is the silver lining: a Bush win in 2004 opens up the way for Dean 2008 -- and no incumbent! Posted by Lee at February 18, 2004 01:14 PM *** I agree with Seattle...there is no way we could hold Kerry "accountable." Kerry is such a lying sleaze that he can never be held accountable. Kerry can only be defeated. I will now work to save our nation from both Bush and Kerry. Posted by Concerned Voter at February 18, 2004 01:29 PM *** I cannot stop crying. Robert Oler is on CSPAN2 telling us that he is supporting Kerry. F**CKING b**stard Posted by Renee in Milw at February 18, 2004 01:33 PM *** I CANNOT AND WILL NOT VOTE FOR JOHN KERRY. Posted by Delmar in Idaho at February 18, 2004 01:34 PM *** I am crying like a baby..... CORRUPTION WINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I shall be retiring the name ByeByeBush after this post because I just dont care anymore. I will also be leaving politics forever. Fuc*k this party Posted by Brand new Naderite at February 18, 2004 01:38 PM *** I would also like to say that if Kerry wins the nomination, I will not be voting for him in the general election. I think he is one of the most corrupt politicians ever. He makes my skin crawl. Posted by Christine in Mass. at February 18, 2004 01:45 PM *** Hey Robert Oler, Grossman, and all you other unprincipled OPPORTUNISTS - F*#K YOU!!!! We think for ourselves! And we support those that support us. Your man Kerry DOES NOT fit that bill. Go ahead and kiss Kerry's skinny ass. But don't expect us to. Posted by Quepha in TX at February 18, 2004 01:46 PM *** if kerry is the nom, i will not vote for him. he stinks and will never get my vote! Posted by mary at February 18, 2004 02:09 PM *** I will not support John K. I can't even bring myself to type his last name. It's like a swear word. Posted by vb at February 18, 2004 12:11 PM *** A vote for Kerry is a vote for a candidate and a campaign that personallyand deeply hates us. It would be schizophrenic to cast a vote for an establishment that despises our existence. First the push polling in Iowa, then the Osama TV ad, and now this. Posted by DeanSoDamnAwesome at February 18, 2004 12:12 PM *** I will support you, Governor Dean, but I will never support either John Kerry or John Edwards. They are spineless opportunists who have shown atrocious judgement with respect to the most important decisions a president will ever make - decisions about war and peace. Electing either one of them will change absolutely nothing. Posted by E in NC at February 18, 2004 12:17 PM *** Forget about Edwards and Kerry! They are both so pathetic. Two Borg drones without spine. Neither will be able to take on Bush in fall. Posted by Dean is back at February 18, 2004 12:19 PM *** Go Nader!!! THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY THAT KERRY, EDWARDS, THE DNC, OR ANY OF THOSE OTHER SPINELESS, SOULLESS, CONVICTION-LESS, PIECES OF TRASH WILL EVER GET A DIME OF MY MONEY, AN OUNCE OF MY SUPPORT, OR A CONSIDERATION OF MY VOTE. Plus, Bush will eat either of the 2 remaining candidates alive - they have no record or a horrible record and are just hot air. Today, we saw W secure 4 more years for himself. To quote Robert Byrd - "Today, I weep for my country..." Posted by Dad in NY at February 18, 2004 12:23 PM *** Vote for an establishment democrat? no way! I will hold my nose and vote for Bush! The DNC needed my swing vote. It is too bad that they are backing the wrong man. I guess that is time to open my wallet and give my attention to Dubya. Posted by Moderate Republican for Dean at February 18, 2004 12:25 PM *** and I will *never* donate money or time to a campaign that worked to destroy what my husband and I worked so hard to help create. That's probably good, considering iwerd things like this are popping up... http://www.drudgereport.com/mattjk8.htm
Thanks ron! Interesting... But I still think Florida is still in play for the dems. I guess we'll see.
Maybe not saner, but still vastly different. everyone of the posts you cited talks about not voting, not contributing, etc. In other words, however insane they may be (and from my perspective anyone who doesn't do what they can within the system to remove Bush from office is insane), they are still talking about legitimate choices. For instance, there's not one in there that advocated killing Kerry supporters. The one I cited (and there are many more) and why I chided TJ is the reliance on eliminationist rhetoric. I think that's a dangerous game to be playing, even in jest.
agreed, but to me the quote you provided, just like TJ's post, seemed clearly tongue-in-cheek. the jilted deaniacs are serious.
