The reversion among minority voters in New Jersey has to scare Republicans right now. Asian American and Hispanic voters basically reverted back to 2020 voting trends. Indian voters in particular were back to Obama/Clinton numbers.

That redrawn districts in South Texas basically fall apart for Republicans if Hispanics go back to voting like they did in 2020. Now this was just a state election but I think Republicans are really banking on the 2024 vote among minorities to hold for the longer term and that just seems like a really questionable assumption.

Many Americans (and others) have been conditioned to think of a certain type of person when they hear Islam or Muslim. That person is usually a smashup of Hollywood caricatures and Osama bin Laden--a wild-eyed fanatic with brown skin and a scary beard. (Much like WWII era criticisms of Japan often involved racist imagery.) Thus, it doesn't take much to make a criticism of Islam racist and because of that, it is incumbent on the one offering the critique to define the boundaries of their argument. Too often, racists will take refuge in pedantry to justify their racism. If you're not a racist, state the case clearly. If you're only posting memes from the worst corners of the web, it's sadly apparent as to what you are.

 

Declaring "I'm not a racist I'm just a bigot" isn't a exactly a great look.
