I agree with Mr. Schmidt. What we are seeing from over one hundred Republicans in Congress is an act of Fascism straight out of the playbook of Hitler’s National Socialist German Workers Party. The Nazi Party. Grab ahold of the lies pouring out of your leader’s mouth and hang onto them with both hands. That’s exactly what we’re seeing and it is incredibly dangerous to our Republic.
I'm surprised the GOP and Proud Boys types don't have a NAZI style salute for Trump. He would eat that up.
Those that stand for democracy needs to fight back. This needs to be codified into law. Intentional sowing of distrust and then pursuing claim of remedies based on that distrust should be made a federal claim. This shouldn’t be shocking or controversial. You are denied insurance claim and jailed for intentionally starting the fire. In the same way, you should not only be denied any remedies of public distrust, you should be thrown out of office and barred from future participation for creating the public distrust by lies in order to make the claim.
And in the event that is true, neither candidate got an advantage. Both had the opportunity to receive mail in ballots via the expanded mail in ballot rule.
To no one's surprise, trump, the losing candidate, is orchestrating this attack on democracy... Trump, House Republicans held call to discuss Electoral College rejection: Brooks https://www.foxnews.com/politics/gop-splits-electoral-college-certification
I just saw Ron Johnson on MTP and talk about a shyteshow. He was going on about Hunter Biden and accusing Chuck Todd of undermining trust in he media. As many have noted we don't live in a pure democracy but under a democratic republic that we the job of Senators isn't just to cater to the loudest voices of their constituents but to lead. At that time that means telling some hard truths. The truth here is Trump lost the election. He lost at the polls, he lost in court, he lost in recounts, he lost in state certification, he lost in the vote of the electors and he will lose again on Wednesday. I suspect Johnson knows this. Instead of doing his part to lead by reducing division and guiding his constituents to the next steps for this country he's pandering to a President who can't handle losing and caving to the extremists.
It's gonna be an interesting week in the history of the USA politics. I fully expect the efforts to fizzle and the transition to a new President to go on. But we going to have schism in the GOP between the serious conservatives and the circus clowns vying for the leadership of the Trump base. And, probably the end of the GOP as a cohesive lock step party. The 2024 prinaries will be a bloodbath of GOP's eating their own. We are witnessing history in real time.
I hate to disagree with Cornyn but if the electoral count goes below 270 and goes to the House the vote isn't per Representative but per state. Republicans hold the edge in state delegations. This is what is so scary about this whole thing is that if the election were closer and/or Trump's team more capable they could succeed in overturning the election.
