From his profile that I read on Draftexpress, it says his athletic in terms of mobility, but is not "explosive" by any means of the imagination, and that the reason his a good shot blocker is b/c of his length and timing. Not because his athletic in terms of jumping ability...Which leads to my point that he would struggle to play center in the NBA!! If you want defensive minded big that could be had late in the first round or early second, we need to draft the guy with the most potential!!, to be insurance in case the whole Yao experiment doesn't work...
I'm sure Morey already knows who he wants so we will just have to wait and see what the mastermind does.
Downside: He's built like Luc Ridnour and got owned by Duke's lowly bigs in the elite eight.[/QUOTE] What game were you watching? He was the only one doing anything vs Duke! He had 18, 10rbs, 5blks 6 assists!!!
LMAO. You're BU hate continues. Yep have a team switch to a defense they haven't played in 18 months.
Who owns you more: BU who you can't stop talking about?? or UT whose school song you can't stop singing about?
I wouldn't be surprised to see us take Quincy Pondexter or James Anderson, possibly with a trade down. They're the kind of high-efficiency players who get to the line that Morey covets. Both have good size, and Pondexter is also a superb athlete. Plus, no one's talking about them, and Morey always does what no one's talking about
Have you seen any draft boards?... Pondexter is considered 2nd rounder, if we wanted him he could be had through a second round bought pick ...
Drafting for "potential" alone is stupid. You have to gauge both floor and ceiling. And the deciding factor when two players are close in value, is your positional need--so yes, that does factor into the decision, even though its weight in your decision is smaller than the quality of the player. For instance, if John Wall was somehow available at our pick, we would take him no matter what because he's a head and shoulders above any other picks, even though we don't need a PG. But if Wesley Johnson was available, we might not, even though he is projected to go several picks before ours, because we don't need a SF and there's not THAT much talent difference between him and whatever big men are remaining. I'm not such as an idiot as to think that there's a huge difference between a guy projected to go thirteenth and a guy projected to go fourteenth, and you shouldn't be either. If they're that close in value, you take the one who fills the positional need.
More already stated that the league was going smaller, and whats the big fuss about height, when length matters more. You don't block shots with your head.
No risk, no reward. With that said, this is going to be a decently deep draft. Not enough people are talking about that. I'd rather see Daryl "The Turd Alchemist" Morey work his magic with a 2nd rounder to a late 1st rounder aquired in a trade. I would do my homework on Udoh though.
The draft boards I read put him as a late first rounder, but I agree he can be had later. That's why I think we may trade down if Morey wants him, either for a second this year or a future first
Any solid evidence to support Udoh is really 6'10"? Sure doesn't look like in some of the videos that I watched.
According to http://www.nbadraft.net/players/ekpe-udoh. Wasn't Dorsey also listed at 6'9"? lol I do not want a big who is not really a big.
All I care about is production. He's probably 6'8 and 1/2 or 6'9 like every other college player listed at 6'10.
I agree, Whiteside would be excellent. Good enough to be a solid backup as a rookie, and with some conditioning I'm sure he can become at the very least a solid starter. Would love to see the Rockets draft him and develop him to be the centerpiece once Yao retires
