I am sorry if you are having difficulties discerning facts from opinions. The facts I posted should not be considered opinions since they came from a liberal source.
My prediction. 2 things will happen before the election. 1) They will find stock piles of WMD's 2) They will catch Osama Sadaam was just the first.
The Dukakis argument is less than worthless, but most of the other stuff highlights why senators generally do not get elected President.
i'm starting to lean heavily against bush... but if they catch osama anytime before the election, i don't think Bush would lose. that may not earn him MY vote...but i think it would for many people.
White House: 3.8 million new jobs Bush expects 320,000 new jobs a month, or 3.8 million, this year, not 2.6 million as first reported. http://money.cnn.com/2004/02/10/news/economy/jobs_forecast/index.htm
The 2.6 million number if obtained would yield a positive net growth record for the GWB presidency. I suspect the number comes from a WH fact sheet for the press and whose sole purpose is to get the net job growth monkey off of the President's back (versus a reachable economic reality).
i'm most concerned with the health care issue...i'm pretty well convinced we have to do something much more than what we have now to assist people with health care costs...but how do we do that??
I would be open to the idea of government subsidised health care under some conditions: 1. You could opt in or out of it. Not opt in or out of paying but whether you choose to be a part of the system. If you opt out and have no other insurance, tough. 2. If you opt in, you have to live your life under government controlled standards. For example, the government would dictate how many kids you could have, what your acceptable cholestoral level would be, how much body fat you were allowed to have, etc... I would even go so far as to make the people who opt in subject to government diet and exercise requirements. If you don't want to live by these governmnet restrictions then fine, get your own insurance and live anyway you want. You want to opt in? Then meet the government requirements and you are welcome. Some would argue that its not fair to pay healthcare taxes if you don't participate but everyone pays school taxes whether you've got kids or not. The reason I suggest this is because, while it sounds good to say that everyone should be "covered" I don't see how it would be financially feasable unless the government can contol its costs by ensuring that fewer people get ill. Otherwise its a black hole that will just suck money down into it with diminishing returns forever.
