my doubles partner in tennis just gained two tons of respect from your truly after battling the last three Sundays in a row without a drop of water, observing Ramadan. while our opponent and myself were chatting it up in between games, homeboy would go underneath the shade and just try and muster up as much energy as he could to stay on his feet. we went 2-1 over the course, and we were looking like we could pull a victory out last week but lost a close tiebreaker to a suspicious call on my baseline lob... and yes, the end of a fast and religious observance is worth celebrating on a message board of Rockets fans. clearly there are others that care.
Eid mubarak everyone! I wish America would atleast pay SOME homage and respect to Muslim holidays as it does all other faiths. Moe
yes happy ramadan...now find ways to stop this kinda nonsense... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-19311098
Eid Mubarak from SF ya'll. Heard the Reliant Center was packed today. Here's a shot I took outside the masjid this AM. Happy biriyani, haleem, or whatever makes you happy.
Wow. I knew things were kind of intense in the Middle East (well, some parts), but this is so unbelievable it seems like something the Onion would concoct.
and meanwhile more mosques getting shot up and burned down worldwide, during a time of worship, no less... links not even necessary in a meaningful, respectful thread like this that's the nonsense I wish would stop...
It's his schtick. He hides behind behind his computer but we all know he wouldn't have the balls to say any of his ish to anyone's face. With his capri-wearing ass.
Learn about the Religion yourself before you make bad comments about it. Please don't base your opinions on what a few muslims do. There are bad things done by people of different types of religion but you can't judge the religion for that. Islam is beautiful and the bad things that some of the muslims are doing are not stated in the Quran and hadith for them to do...
By all other faiths you mean Christian? Because that's the only one I can recall there are any national holidays for. I'd hardly call that "all other faiths."
The Empire State Building is displaying green at the top to commemorate Eid. Nice gesture on their part. If you're implying that Eid should be an American holiday, that wouldn't work because Muslims follow the lunar calendar and moon sightings. But yeah, it is surprising to know that a lot of non-muslims don't know much about Eid.
