Since you won't leave to a Laker board where your Christ in human form resides....maybe you should be a Mavs fan...then you wouldn't have to be so dissapointed
Funny, other than my signature, I don't see any comments about Phil Jackson anywhere in this thread. Incidentally, I would rather have a ROCKET as head coach than Phil Jackson. However, Le$ has made clear winning immediately matters more than loyalty, and more than the history of the organization. If so, he should've hired the better guy when he was available. Further, Mr. Van Gundy has had three seasons, no more success than the first round of the playoffs, and it should be time to move on.
What is it with people calling Les "Le$"? Do people not realize that he is a business man and in this to make money?
EDC anyone who's read any of your post in other thread have a clear understand of how you feel about Phil Jackson and how he's the greatest thing since sliced bread. Van Gundy has taken this team back to the playoffs after a long absense, whether you think that's an achievement or not. If not for the injuries we would be on track for a playoff run as well. EDC let me as you something, why is it that you dissappeared last year after the team turned it around???
You cannot have it both ways. If you want to discount injury-laden seasons ("If not for..."), than your "long absence" amounts to two seasons, one of which included exactly the same number of regular season victories as Mr. Van Gundy's first season in Houston.
You guys probably don't remember when edc was taping the "Rudy t show" and putting it up for everybody to download. He's been around a long time, and has been a real contributor to the forum. Back then, I was arguing with him that Rudy had reached the end of his run, and needed the axe. (I didn't want JVG then, either, though). Edc was arguing we needed to keep Rudy, and his critics were being "unfair". 3 years later, "fair" is still "fair", I'd guess.
How exactly am I having it both ways? My opinion is simply that Van Gundy has done a good job in the first 2 years in Houston. This year has been marred by injuries and it's unfair to lay that all on the coach.
You have no problem laying the "long playoff absence" on the previous head coach. Two first-round losses, blowing an 0-2 lead (with three games at home), the worst game 7 loss in NBA history, and missing the playoffs in the third season is hardly "a good job."
EDC, I never mentioned anything about the previous coaching staff. I simply stated a fact, the Rockets had been absent from the playoffs for a long stretch. I loved Rudy T and didn’t for the way he was pushed out. However, you just seem hell bent on blaming everything on JVG. If we don’t have the injuries we have I believe that we would be about top 3 or 4 in the West. You will disagree but that’s my opinion.
