Eg is hated here ,but I hate to break it to all of you, he's better than kp or jg. And that's not saying much but he's our best guard I think kp and jg are the modern day Francis/mobley. Chuckers with bad passing skills and low iq and low efficiency I've seen enuff Only three players worth keeping long term sengun tate and brooks All the rest are garbage
@Plowman makes a viable point, and far from a ridiculous one. Last year #1 overall pick Anthony Edwards was off the bench the first 17 games. He finished the year with 19ppg average 21 ppg as a starter. 23ppg post all star break. He improved as the season went on, and finished strong rather then flaming out. Rookies face difficulties with the length of the season, the travel, etc. It wouldn't be stupid to have Green off the bench the first 15-20 games. He can still play 25minutes and take a stack of shots. 2-guard is a physical position, and having him toughen up and learn to be accountable is important - why not have a grizzled vet start? Especially if that vet is someone we are looking to promote and ship out!! Not sure I agree with the idea Plowman raises, but it is more of a basketball related discussion point than he is being given credit for.
Bring Wall back! Play Eric Gordon! Start Sekou Doumbouya! This team is going all in on learning-via-pain. No random veterans will save you. But I don't think the point is completely invalid about having Green come off the bench and showcasing Gordon.
Totally agree, Green can learn a lot from a pro like EGo. I would be looking to trade Ego though, so get him some starts, then move him over for Green when he is ready. DD
Sekou signed with Lakers We should have released Lamb; but those forbidden private pictures of Tilman or Patrick
given the staggering that goes on, i don't think who starts/doesn't start has a big net effect on how much KPJ has the ball in his hands. and KPJ having the ball in his hands is not the only thing that matters, even if you think it's the most important thing.
I guess a lot of folks don't try to think before responding. I think @Plowman has a lot of valid points and I know seeing EG chuck a ton of bricks on offense would be really painful to watch but the bigger picture is that we need to have him out of the team. The only way to do that is to have him play more minutes and showcase him more on offense. We also don't want JG to face the rookie wall so early in the season. I'm a big Jalen Green supporter but if this means that we'll be able to slowly pace him with the 82 games and slowly ease him up to major Harden like minutes then I am all for it. Case in point, Anthony Edwards was playing off the bench for a team that sucks at his position. They slowly integrated him into the starting lineup rather than forcing it on him on day one of the regular season.
I'll get flamed as well, but I was thinking the same thing. While I'm ready to move on from EG, he would provide better defense at the 2 and bring that vet presence to the backcourt. While I love JG, he would benefit from watching the game for a bit and then coming in when the other team's subs are on the floor. What a spark he could be and then when EG shows he can still chunk it, drive a bit and defend we can ship him off and hand the keys to Green. I think it would help Scoot initially as well, because EG ain't no ball handler and will help spread the court. I'd also like to see Green get some more time with Sengun, because that combination on the court will be special in the near future.
"ive seen enough" 3rd preseason game, this guy wants us to get rid of KPJ and Green LMAO There are some turd posts on here after a loss man straight turd lol This should be ban material right here lol
I agree and have argued this elsewhere. KPJ, if he's going to play the point guard role, should play with the vets in the starting unit. Green should anchor the second unit with Sengun.
Jalen Suggs should’ve been the choice ar no. 2. KPJ is no savior… he’ll be out if the league in 5 years. He’ll flash intermittently but there’s nothing special there. Christian Wood needs to be flipped for future capital. Sengun is already the best player and only championship caliber player they have in this team (maybe also Tate). I would beg Orlando to give up Jalen Suggs for Christian Wood, a future first, and KPJ… I would start our foundation with Suggs Sengun Green And build from there… they still will have a TON of future draft capital
There is simply no reason that Jalen Green shouldn't be getting starter minutes on this team. We have no aspirations of accomplishing anything in the playoffs this year, so the their highest priority should be training the young guys. I've never heard anything about EG that makes me believe he would be a great teacher, but I don't know why he can't set an example coming off the bench rather than starting. Augustin, Nwaba, Theis, and Gordon can all provide veteran guidance. Also, there is no point in showcasing EG. Everyone in the league knows what he can do, and you just run the risk of him getting injured, which everyone in the league also knows he is highly prone to do. The less wear he has on him come playoff time, the more valuable he'll be to potential contenders.
Yeah I think a preseason benching that coach explains to him is good for everyone. Sometimes very rarely with confident kids, you need to carefully let them know they should not be happy with their strategy.
If you bench green to start the season and he doesn't fight it, that reduces his potential in my eyes. I can't imagine a leader in his position accepting that. Championship franchise players are ultra stubborn (though not all stubborn players are franchise players). If we're going to bench him, let's do it when he's had a training camp, preseason and a few games under his belt. See how he reacts.
