My take is that he did the right thing the wrong way. He should have gone to a "whistleblower" attorney first.
what an embarrassment for the Obama administration so many countries willing to give him the middle finger on Snowden
Oh, shut up, texx. You don't get to rail on how terrible Putin was during the Bush years and then turn around and use Putin being a dick to slam Obama.
There's this thing called the Westphalian system, which as much as internationalists like to decry otherwise, still exists and is strong, bigtexx. You should look it up sometimes. Oh. So we charged him with treason, huh? Something we never did with Bradley Manning even in the harsher military courts? That's very interesting, I'm sure you can provide a link for that.

Rule of law, rule of law--- when the American government gets rumbled, nothing is enough to get it to stick to high-minded rule of law. Snowdon is wise to flee. This is the same government that is treating Bradley Manning unconstitutionally, and also snatches up a bunch of people by "accident", torturing them in the process, and then releasing them without explanation. Sure, it's wise for Snowdon to put his life in the hands of the American government. Not like they play dirty tricks at trials, and de facto deny constitutional rights to "undesirable" prisoners.
I don't care what President was in office, you would have same issue. What is the US going to do? Bomb? Invade?
what a simplistic viewpoint from you. The work needed to be done beforehand. Remember, Obama was supposed to be some kind of great uniter. He has not done that abroad, and has CERTAINLY not done that at home -- he has proven incapable of working with congress. He's a terrible leader by any metric.
So, Daniel Ellsburg, a person who wasn't even in jail all that long, wasn't convicted, has led a good life in this country ever since he was released, is evidence of BLARGH 1984 ORWELL. And Manning is under military justice, which has always been much harsher than civilian law, and thus bears no relevance to Snowden - you guys can play your government is evil fanatasies all you want, the NSA is never going to toss Snowden into some hole and throw away the key. And even if the stuff about the trial was true, so what? Snowden is a little prick who wants the benefits of martyrdom without actually, well, being a martyr like Ellsburg was, and that's not going into the fact that there are legitimate grounds at this point to suspect that the dude is a spy who's leaked **** about PRISM to the Chinese and Russians, which if that turned out to be true, I would fully advocate stringing him up.
he is a conscientous and obedient follower however. he efficiently implements whatever his banker/big pharma/big agro/big oil/insurance/etc masters ask him to push through.
Reading Snowden's history and viewing his current actions it's becoming clear this man is about as big an attention w**** as Julian Assange. A match made for Ecuador.
