Another thing to hate Dallas. Sefko knows better, Hakeem can cover Dirk and Dirk CAN NOT cover Hakeem- No,no, no. In the low post, Hakeem will eat Dirk alive. He should be knowledgable that Hakeem is more of a PF than a C, so if they matchup, it is advantage Hakeem. Another writer trying to make a name because I didn't know he was in Dallas. Now that he is in Dallas, I hope he gets lead poisoning from chewing his pen (for which he is known to do), so that he doesn't have to write poisonous articles.

Duke it out on 2k12. Thats the only way you'll ever know. I was routing for Dirk to get his and was happy to be the only state that has 3 City's with Rings. Put Texas NBA teams against the other trio NBA state, Texas NBA teams Rape Cali's NBA Teams. Agreed?

Eddie is bitter and it shows in his writing. Dream would destroy any player that ever put on a Mavs uniform. Terry isn't on the same planet as Drexler and its not even close. Its just Sefko spewing nonsense.

...seriously Mila, listen. Mavs have Dirk,,, the Rockets had Dream and they are both defending champion #6 seeds... that's why I think the Mavs are like the '95 Rockets.

For those of you who don't know who Eddie Sefko, he was the writer who labeled the Rockets as "Choke City", which in turn motivated them to turn into "Clutch City"..

    http://www.chron.com/CDA/archives/a...ockets-117-choke-city-rockets-lose-20-po.html

Suns 124, Rockets 117/CHOKE CITY/Rockets lose 20-point lead in fourth quarter to Suns
    EDDIE SEFKO Staff
THU 05/12/1994 HOUSTON CHRONICLE, Section Sports, Page 1, 3 STAR Edition

The fans came back. Unfortunately, so did the Phoenix Suns.

What was supposed to be an all-for-one show of strength turned into one incredible fourth-quarter collapse Wednesday night as the Rockets blew a 20-point lead in the final 10 minutes to lose 124-117 in overtime at The Summit.

No team has lost a bigger lead in the fourth quarter of a playoff game. It was a gag of the same proportion as the Oilers' 41-38 overtime playoff loss in Buffalo 16 months ago when they led 35-3 early in the third quarter.

I remember this guy's name as well. Why in the hell is he writing for a Mavs paper? What is the bitterness the OP is referring to?

IIRC Dirk had some degree of trouble facing off with such Hall Of Fame players as .... Ryan Bowen and Carl Landry.

Well Dirk is widely considered one of the greatest defenders of all time. I see where he comes from. Plus those 20 seconds a game when VC woke up were always stunning!

Dream was and always will be a C. He considered himself a C. He thinks of himself as C. He is in the HOF as a C. He is a C.

Dream would not have guarded Dirk. Why pull the greatest lane defender out to the perimeter chasing Dirk? That's idiotic.

Horry would guard Dirk and do a good enough job to help the Rockets win. The fact that Sefko can write all that and not mention Horry is all you need to know about his basketball knowledge.

What makes Dirk a great player is that he is a 7 Footer with a devastating fall away...one of the best in the game...The shot becomes unblockable...But then again...If Dirk did play against arguably one of the best centers of all time...that actually could cover the perimeter and was quick enough to recover to cover the rim...Dirk would be no match...I dont not think there is a single big in the league that could even match with the footwork that dream had...it was sick....you think its a travel..and its not...smh...i get chills watching Hakeem destroy the post...Moves, counters, and more counter-moves...

I think Sefko is just playing homer to his audience, he is not an out and out Rockets hater like Blinebury.

I did think the Mavs might put up a good fight, but how they could be better than the 1995 Rockets is beyond me. Olajuwon+Drexler >>>>>>> Nowitzki+Terry.

I predict if the Mavs played against the 95 Western Conference teams, they'd get eliminated by Phoenix or Utah. Two series, where Dirk would actually have to play defense (Malone and Barkley/Green).

If they are lucky enough to get to the Finals (past the Spurs), they have a beastly Shaq team waiting on them.

Dallas was not built to beat teams, like that. The Rockets, on the other hand, could beat all of the same teams Dallas beat with less trouble.

Not sure if I understandt he objections?

If you're trying (a month ago when he wrote this) to offer a ray of a hope to a defending champ after a flat regular season, the 47-35 1995 Rockets winnig the title from the 6th seed isn't a terribly incongruous aspirational model.

The Rockets championships should offer teams hope in miraculous runs. Being the lowest seed to win it all. Having been down 2-0 and 3-1. Blowing 20 point 4th quarter leads. Between both years, those teams faced tons of adversity.

Just don't call yourself Better, because you are not.
