Were did all the idiots whose mamas never taught them a thing about respect and a time and place. Who does it serve to bad mouth this young man whose life is over. Also it is quite possible they know more and a better side of him that you couldn't have a clue. I met Eddie twice and found him to be a very pleasant fellow albeit a bit shy. I also had a friend who dated him and even though he stopped seeing her she said he was very decent to her. I would never let her read these threads because of the stupidity and disrespect by a small few on these boards.
Oooh wee, T'Shane... I am saying this as a concerned friend. Your enthusiasm for your material does not match the response it's getting, bokay? <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Qc9CTZhIlzU"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Qc9CTZhIlzU" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
RIP Eddie, I had sky high hopes when the Rockets selected you, and I was still hoping you could come nack at some time to the team to fullfil all the promesses we saw in year 1. God bless your daughter and your family.
I liked Toney-El's basketball quotes. I don't understand. His ex-girlfriend wasn't a member of his family. Why can't he be a family-loving kid and shoot at his ex-girlfriend? These things are not contradictory. It's like if I said he was good at handling his money and you said, 'no, didn't he shoot at his ex-girlfriend?' Besides, he didn't really shoot at his ex-girlfriend. He pushed her around a little and then shot in the general direction of her car while she was leaving, without actually hitting the car. And, it was several years ago. People like to bring that up as if it is the only thing he's ever done in his life. Accept the fact that he could have done something dumb and malicious that day and was still kind and generous on other days, probably most days.
I noticed that the article said that he died, "near his Houston home." From what I've read here at ClutchFans, Eddie lived in Sugarland, which is nowhere near Lawndale and the East End. I live less than a mile away from the accident site and feel very creepy when riding my bike over the tracks. RIP Eddie.
RIP Eddie finally you are home where ever that may be. No one is perfect in this world and we are all flawed.
I guess you're right. It kind of depends on who you consider as family. Nevertheless, I wouldn't wish anything like that on any Ex-Rocket. Though we traded 3 picks for him, I don't hold a grudge against him. I'm not saying that incident was representative of his life, i thought it was contradictory.
I don't know what you're talking about. Some other posts may have bad mouthed him, but mine didn't. I always liked Eddie and feel sorry he had such a tough life. If you even bothered to read my post, all I said was that it was it was a legitimate point that someone would want a balanced news article on his life to include the facts about other problems he may have had with police. Paying respects to the dead doesn't mean you have to censor important information. You have a lot to say about respect, so it would be good if you tried to practice some of what you preach instead of calling me an idiot when I was trying to make a serious point. It looks like you need to learn some manners yourself. By the way, "where" is not spelled "were."
After I joined cc.net in the summer of 2002, one of the first posts I read here was Dr of Dunk's summer league reports. I remember I was so pumped about Eddie's potential. What memories. How sad.
can anybody imagine what kind of team we could have had if eddie would have not gotten in trouble that one year after assualting his gf or wife or whoever she was. eddie would have been the rashard lewis if today. i was very saddened by the news a couple days ago when it hit the press. does anybody think the rockets will pay tribute to him and wear the black slash on their jerseys for some of the season if not all of the season?
Of current Rockets, I think only Yao, Steve and Mike James were ever teammates with EG. Of course, that's a third of the rotation right there. So maybe. Of course, I don't think any of them attended the funeral. The paper mentioned Garnett but I didn't see mention of any Rockets.
I wouldn't think so. If the Rockets website didn't have any mention of his death then they probably won't do that.
