Thats right. There has to be a way though to find out how he is doing. Because this could be actually a big move for the Rockets. If we get him, then we dont have to worry about going for another 4 or 5. We dont have to go after Camby, Swift, or McDyss any more. Instead, we can concentrate on getting a solid small forward and point guard.

We have to remember, Yao always helps the guards when teams play PNR on us, leaving Cato to guard the paint while he gets back. When Cato was not in the game w/ Yao, teams repeatedly got layups. Especially in the last 15 games, when Yao was late getting back.

The point is, we NEED a shot blocker. Really bad. I would concentrate on this right away........after signing Brent Barry of course

This is really good news if true. We'd be stacked at pf again like we were with Mo, K-9, and Griff and this would be his 4th season so the guys due to make some headway.

Remember, he was close to being the #1 pick in 01. Chances are we were all wrong about him to some degree. Hopefully all that crap changed his life and he realizes he has a legacy to make and obligations to fulfill. We've still got 3 picks riding on him as far as I'm concerned.

And after losing so many longtime Rockets in the T-Mac deal, it'd add some more continutity to the team.

He is only 22 years old....should have been a senior at Seton Hall.

Hopefully Lucas has got him pointed in the right direction, it certainly can not hurt to sign him for the league minimum.

What are the terms of Eddie's probation? I thought I read where he couldn't be out past 6:00pm at night, or something to that effect. Has this been lifted? What is his pending legal status?

All of that can be adjusted for his job.

Thanks for the info, and I would love for you to keep posting.

I would also love to see EG in a Rox uni again, albeit at a much lower salary to start. He still needs to prove that he has his head on straight before we commit any serious money to him (again). I personally see EG as a young Rasheed and think he could develop into a monster PF. If it were up to me, I would definitely invite him to camp.

[Barry or PG to be named later]
TMac
JJ
EG
Yao

That lineup would win a whole bunch of games.

NBAHOU713 - There is a standard of proof on this board that typically accompanies a report of this magnitude. While many people scream "source" when a new report is made, this does not necessarily mean that it has to be an article, photograph, or some physical piece of evidence. What is does mean, however, is that the burden is on you to supply evidence of your credibility on the matter being reported.

Case in point: Doc Rocket could come in here and say that Jeff Van Gundy has a tail. He may not have a picture, or an article describing its texture, length, and color. But Doc Rocket has credibility (arguably, he is the gold standard by which all other forms of credibility are judged), so I assume that whatever he says is true until proven otherwise.

Posters that have not demonstrated credibility are expected to provide some sort of verifiable evidence along with a scoop. Applying that principle to your current situation, you may gain credibility by divulging more on the relationship to your source. Or, providing some other information of a non-personal nature that is verifiable by someone "in the know". Example: practice schedule, other players present, etc. I'm not pressing you for details on something you might be uncomfortable revealing, just trying to shed some light on sources and credibility.

I really hope NBAHOU713's scoop is true and that Eddie is willing to make his comeback with us.

I understood why the team cut him loose when his life was spiralling out of control... the franchise didn't need that kind of distraction to deal with. I hope Eddie understands that too and holds no hard feelings about it.

But, if he's getting his life in order again, bring him back! The guy still had great potential and I want him to be wearing Rocket red when he realizes it.

True or not, signing Eddie would be another nice addition. He makes MoT much more expendable and JVG could really turn this kid into something good. Eddie is still young and has a lot of potential. He can be had for cheap, so I don't see why not.

Don't forget that JVG has had his handful of "disgruntled" players. He managed to turn Spree around after all his troubles. I don't see why he couldn't do the same for Eddie. If JVG could get Eddie into the right defensive mind set, a Yao/Eddie frontcourt would be something other teams don't want to see.

Sign him up.

The difference is Eddie never had any trouble with anyone on the team. He was a good team mate, just really quiet and reserved.

True. All of Eddie's problems were off-court issues, but I still think JVG could help Eddie take his problems and make it problems for opposing teams. :)

This is BS on many levels.

First, this report really is no BFD. Really.

Also the people like Popeye and Doc Rock have made names for themselves by being right occasionally with some big scoops. Not by providing "verifiable evidence". One of the biggest scopes here was made by a person who overheard a cell phone conservation in a mall, which was completely unverifiable and which turned out to be right.

I would love to see Eddie back. I know what he did in the past was wrong and damaging. But he had depression and other things messing with his head. If he is now clear from all that and is ready to focus on basketball I would love to see his talet realized here in Houston. He would be a nice compliment next to Yao and a nice boost to this team in terms of bench depth. He still is only 22 years old.
