I for one do not think that you are posting this to yank our chains. You should bookmark this thread though, in case you got it right, so that the disbelievers can beg forgiveness ;)

BTW, there is a huge gulf between the Rockets thinking about inviting EG to training camp as a non roster player (which is all I got from you saying the Rockets are taking him back) versus him making the team.

BTW2 IIRC EG kept his troubled private life to himself for most of his Rocket career, so EG being on the team should not be disruptive. I don't mind EG getting a second chance with the Rox, but am very realistic about the possiblity and the likely outcome if he did.

Give the newbie a break...But, I must say, next time you post, say it's a rumor up front and let other people decide...If it's a story, provide the link...

    Continue posting...

As I have said all along, I have been hoping Eddie Griffin could get his act together and fullfill the basketball potential he has.

If there was any hope for Rasheed Wallace, there must be some for Eddie. A few months ago I would not have wanted R. Wallace on the Rockets despite his immense talent. But after watching his newfound demeanor in the playoffs, I have changed my mind about Wallace. I hope Eddie can earn his way back into the hearts of the Rocket fan base with a similar change of heart -- and conduct.

With the clique now all but gone, the weakside enforcer is soon to be on the prowl. I HOPE!

Thanks for the news! Keep it coming.

We have another thread about Les with posters saying he has big nuts and takes chances. I'm sure giving EG another shot isn't such a big deal. The Rox image could be hurt for a while if it doesn't pan out, but think of how are game intros and pre game talks would be. After they go on and on about TMac and Yao they would start talking about EG and how he is what the Rox needed all along and how he has changed his life around etc. etc.

I'm just dreaming of course but we do know a couple of things for sure he has a home in Houston and he is working out with John Lucas who I believe has been a recovering addict for many years now. If Lucas starts giving teams the word that EG is behaving himself someone is going to take a shot at him. :D

Even if he tries a comeback, he probably won't make the team. His conditioning sucks, he can't shoot, and is rail thin. There's not really a place for him alongside two other weak, finesse PFs in Howard and Taylor.

Eddie is definately worth a second look. He could contribute. Lucas could help him with his head and his game.

We could use a tall, shot-blocking, backup power forward. I'd probably call his number if Howard is in trouble before I called Taylor or Spoon. Personally, I'd just as soon dump both of those contracts. Too bad the league isn't ready to help me out with that.

The Rockets aren't risking too much. It'd be a good story, too.

    More money for Brent Barry!

    Riiiiigghht....;);)

Look at it this way, NBAHOU713, if this turns out to be true, you will go down as a BBS legend. Who wouldn't mind enduring a bunch of grief to obtain that status?

Has your source seen him shoot? The guy airballed wide open jumpers.

I would take a shot, what could it hurt?

The guy has talent, it was his head that was screwed up.

We could use him on the Rockets and I am sure he is eager to prove something.

JVG would be good for him.

    IMHO.

in fairness to NBAHOU713 i didn't think his initial post, or the thread title, for that matter implied "SCOOP!" it seemed more like an interesting aside, perhaps not worthy of it's own thread, but then he's an inexperienced poster, so give the guy a break. and it's not that far fetched.

one point i often see elided over when dicussing the trade that got us eddie and netted nj jefferson is we picked RJ for NJ. the trade talks started after NJ picked eddie, and all three picks the rockets made in the first round were made w/ NJ in mind. perhaps the rockets would've picked jefferson anyway, but the way draft day went he was always headed to NJ.. also, does anyone thin k jefferson would be the player he is today if he'd spent the formative years of his career with francis rather than kidd?

yeah me too I really miss it. Cato did a nice job with Yao shotblocking..actually Yao rarely blocks anyone anymore..but he intimidates so...but slow sometimes to react.

I want Eddie. I hope this is true..he wouldn't be bad. I guess give him a try...he has to want to return..and it's up to Rokets I guess.

I don't think Rockets are participating in summer league this year..
