There are too many economic downsides to not picking up Griffin's option year 4 (2004-05). Many teams would be reluctant to take him in a trade because he will become a restricted FA after the current season 2003-04 without a 2004-05 contract. And without a 2004-05 contract, the Rockets can not use him as one of their unprotected players in the Charlotte expansion draft.

I for one, would be very, very, very surprised if the option is not used.

Juan, my depression theory IS presumptuous. I never said it wasn't. It's speculative and when I've suggested treatment I've suggested it only IF that was the problem. We have all observed Eddie's mopey demeanor. I'd say that (and what we know about his past) lends credence to my theory, but I certainly don't claim to know. As such I don't leap to conclusions like 'it's time for Eddie to be committed to a mental institution' or 'Eddie's probably schizophrenic by now!' which would be consistent with insane leaps of logic like 'Eddie needs detox' or 'he's probably on crack.' I've rarely read more ridiculous ideas on this board (outside the D&D at least) and that's saying something.

I will assume you are just as ignorant and an uninformed lad. I concerned the uncecessary 'legs' your input developed because the most important thing here is the bizzare actions of this potentially druged up boy. You say it does not kill? I will say get out of the dark - go get more info and come back. You say almost half of NBA players do it? Then tell me how many of them miss their flights and not call for over 24 hours? If I remember correctly this is not the first time for Eddie. True.....all of these drugs allegations are all "alleged" but there is more than enough evident to permit us to speculate.

You are a young lad who obviously does not understand the principle of nipping the "bud" early so you may not appreciate that which is 'above' you.

Oh by the way, here is the definition of DETOX for your unassuming mind:

    Disclaimer

This latest incident in regards to Mr. Griffin's no-call no-show bout has so far not been proven to be 'drug related' and may never likely be.

where on earth do you get these conclusions??? a young man gets caught in possession of a small amount of weed, and now he's on crack?

If Griffin would lay off the pot I know he would be really good. Pot makes you reeeeeeeeallly tired and alters ur state of mind. For all we know he was too stone to know how important it is to attend an NBA GAME!!! even though its preseason I agree its not excuse. Its going to be tough, though, getting off the pot is realllllly hard, especially at his age. If Griff gives it a rest and maybe limits himself to once or twice a month we will see great strides. I mean i dont see the harm in smoking pot once in awhile just keep it to yourself and dont let it take over your life like it is with Griffin. And yes when your stone all the time it means its basically taken over you someway or another.

this is the first time he's missed a flight, and there has only been one drug charge. not that one is a good thing, but your above statement is misleading....

Maybe Spliffin had a legitimate personal reason for missing Monday's practice and the road trip. For example, he was up late Sunday night looking for a 7-Eleven microwave burrito to deal with his munchies.

Actually, getting off the pot (so to speak... heh...) isn't all that tough. I used to smoke it every day at every opportunity, and the only "withdrawl" symptom I had when I quit was extreme boredom. And that was cold turkey.

As far as it affecting his game, well, it's not like he can sit on the bench puffing away during practice or games. I think I can say for sure that even if he's smoking some dank Lakers-grade ****, there's no way Griffin could be stoned actually DURING games.

That said, the guy's a pro athelete, and while it sure isn't dangerous, pot isn't good for you. It's going to have an affect on your wind, and it's going to have an affect on your memory and concentration. Take it from me. Now, depending on how much he smokes, this could be easily manageable. I mean, let's face it, his conditioning is a crapload better that anyone's here. Still... it isnt' good for you. When you make your living on your endurance and athleticism, it's probably more of a boon than a blessing if you're smoking regularly (occassional puffing is no biggie for anyone.)

As far as detox, well, that's pretty laughable. Detox is for physically dependent substances, which weed isn't. If it's a problem, then Griff should get some counseling and probably a different set of hangers-on.

Fegwu, I dearly wish I was still a "young lad." You're making me blush like that lady at the 7-11 who asked for my ID. Boy, was she in for a surprise!

If you've proven anything with your posts in this thread it is that you need immediate attention from a health care professional. I don't know if you're high or just plain old crazy, but something is seriously wrong. Get some help before it's too late. For real. We're all rooting for you.

Have you used indian hemp/mar1juana/igboh/weed before? If not .... do not attempt to contribute on this thread and focus on what you know something about. Okay?

Also with Mr. Griffin's bizzare it is conceivable to "assume" that other 'drugs' could be involved in this 'deal'. Sad that we have to speculate this way but that is the Pandora's box effect for you.

The Rockets gamble on Griffin and it didn't workout. They should trade him and get anything for him. I wish him luck.:)

Uh... yeah. That was what my post was about. I've smoked enough weed in my life to tranquilize a horny elephant 24/7. I'm talking from first-hand experience, as you can easily tell who in this thread knows about mar1juana simply from how afraid of it they are. Like I said, Detox? Complete overkill.

Now focus on something YOU know something about.

The guy's name is "Hippie"loser, I think he knows what he's talking about. I also think I have a quality knowledge of the subject at hand as well (Do I need to post a link to my Widespread Panic concert reviews?) and I agree with him 100%.

OMG this is too funny. In a thread of stupid posts, this is the funniest. You speak as if you got all your information on pot from "Reefer Madness".

Didn't some poster say he was hanging out on the streets?

I don't know...but of course he was too high to get to the airport...

Cato has probably smoked some too...but he has not been absent from games or anything...only 1 time because his mother passed away. Cato spent the summer working out with JVG. :)

But they are PROFESSIONAL NBA PLAYERS! They should not be absent! ;)

Tell that to my best friend in High School who wrecked his motorcycle because he was high.

Weed is EVERY FRICKEN bit as bad as alcohol, WORSE, it is ILLEGAL !!!

You can make excuse after excuse about weed, but it is HARDLY good for you.
