Pass. The guy can't shoot, even though he jacks up lots of threes, and he plays with very little desire.
Hey now, R. Rhodes dropped 20+pts on MJ in Chicago. It was his rookie year if I'm correct. More impressive, it was on NBC. None the aforementioned garbage can make any sort of similar claims so don't lump RR with that sorry bunch. Edit: Now that I think about it it might have been 32pts and a sick steal on MJ. I remeber we won that game and they specifically asked MJ about RR play since he came from Chicago. Perhaps one of the Historians can look it up.
You're being sarcastic.... right? The dude didn't play well when he did play, had a FG% under 40%, and he's a total turd. I think we all know his laundry list of crimes committed... Why anyone would want him on their team is totally beyond me. I think the Rockets will waive Yao before they sign Eddie Griffin (i.e. IT'S NOT FREAKING GONNA HAPPEN).
If he is in shape, and has his head on straight, I would give him a go at the Vet minimum...we have a roster spot, why not? But not until next year. DD
If he had his head on straight, the Rockets and now the Wolves wouldn't have waived him. Clearly he doesn't, otherwise he'd be a decent player in the league.
Unless the Rockets waive Sura or someone else, they have the max 15 spots filled up and they can't sign anyone else.
Sura is who I was refering too, he is done playing, and the team still owes him the money anyway, so essentially we have a spot available. I am not saying we should sign EG, but it is worth having a think about it. DD
It didn't work out in Houston. It didn't work out in Jersey. It didn't work out in Minny. So what should the Rockets do? Oh yeah, repeat their mistake and bring him back to Houston. Only DD would second that motion. Beating dead horses really makes them suffer.
Waste of any money at all...theres tons of players out there that would give 100 times more effort to be on the roster, Griffin had potential what 5 years ago?
I would consider it...next year if he has his act together. But, I don't think he could qualify for the playoffs this year so the point is moot. DD
If he can not play for the Rockets in this year's playoffs then wait until next year and consider it. I don't believe he is eligible so, the point is moot..... DD
I remember that game, and specifically that play. But I think you're getting confused. He only scored 15 points (one point off his career high), and that was the only game he played against Chicago as a rocket that is on the books. Barkley was the one who had the big game that day (35 pts) when an injury plagued, outmanned, Rockets squad took the Bulls to the limit, but ultimately lost, 106-100. http://www.databasebasketball.com/teams/boxscore.htm?yr=1997&b=19980118&tm=chi
1.) Matt Maloney - 6 year deal (out of league) 2.) Moochi Norris - 6 year deal (out of league) 3.) Kelvin Cato - 6 year deal (almost out of league) 4.) Maurice Taylor - 6 year deal (almost out of league) 5.) Bryce Drew - 1st round pick, passed up Rashard (out of league) 6.) Mirsad Turkcan - 1st round pick, passed up Rashard (was he ever in the league?) 7.) Rodrick Rhodes - 1st round pick, dealbreaker in the stoudamire trade (out of league) 8.) Eddie Griffin - 1st round pick, after trading 3 first round picks to get him (out of league) Now, its one thing to expect that every team could possibly make a list like this... but actually, I doubt any team gave that many large contracts consecutively to guys who amounted to NOTHING, as well as blowing nearly all 6-8 out of all their first round picks since 1999, and having nothing to show for it. so true. it was simple amazingly stupid decisions. Rudy T really lost touch with reality the last few years and unfortunately not many questioned him. You can still see the effects of the horrible span of signings and draft picks.
We traded 3 first round picks for Eddie, and then, after he played for us for a while, we traded him for a reason. ew Jersey picked him up, but didn't suit him up for a single game and shipped him to Minnesota for a reason. Minnesota was all gung-ho about giving the kid another chance and turning him around under the welcoming arms of Kevin Garnett. Now they've waived him for a reason. Do you see a pattern here?
Yeah I think you might be getting the Jordan incident also clouded with the memory of LaBradford Smith, the former houston high school star turned Bullets guard who had a celebrated feud against Jordan after having a big game against him once.
i don't get you. you constantly bash JVG for his coaching skills, yet you would consider signing EG, if he gets his act together? Griffin has had numerous chances to get his act together. what makes you think he's gonna change?
I don't think he has his act together, but if he does, we should at least consider it...... We need a long 4 that can shoot the 3ball and provide rebounding. EG would be a perfect fit....IF....he has all the negative junk behind him... All I am saying is the organization should have a conversation about it.....but not until next year. DD
