A condition of his probation is that he has to get a job. I wonder which route he'll take? The get real, I'm trying learn how to live route or the over paid , no show, pampered star route.

The possibility for him to turn 180 is very low. I don't think Rocket will jump to the boat. If other team is interested in him,let other team like NJ to try. If nobody interested in him, and he is begging Rockets one more chance, then you will conisdere. Those people always think he can find a job easily, they do not care other people. Only when they have no way to go, they may recondsider their life.

If he is not going to play basketball that is one thing; but I would want us to get him before anybody does if he is going to play in the NBA.

I disagree. I have no idea who the hell Bare Bryant is (Kobe? not convicted yet). There is a huge difference between Artest,Wallace and EG. What Artest and Wallace did was just Mo Taylor like, not Eddie Griffin like. Shooting at somebody is much more serious than tossing a TV set or smoking weed. Plus, Artest and Wallace were proven stars. What about Griffin? Never proven, never improved. EG has been givin enough chances to redeem, but he didn't. You can't give him endless chances. That would be toally unfair to all those hard working players who got cut. And it will be a reall bad influence to current players.

True, we've already invested 3 draft picks and got screwed by Eddie Griffin. Now we need to stop bleeding and don't let him screw us up again.

Don't you just love this great country's legal system? You know, where there are trials and they look at evidence and stuff and people are found not guilty of charges against them. Sure is a lot better than the alternative...

If Eddie can get his life together, he would be a great asset to this team. Can basically block shots like Cato and is threat offensively unlike Cato, the Rockets wouldn't be playing 4 on 5 as w/Cato. His outside shooting, albeit was average, would open up things for Yao. The Rox did give 2nd chances to other players who screwed up. They gave John Lucas, Lewis Lloyd and Mitchell Wiggins that 2nd chance although they were well past their primes.

Bitter? Hardly. He's athletic I'll give him that, but what makes you think he has talent (by that I mean enough talent for people to give a sh*t about)? Is it his post up skills? Is it his footwork? How about his shooting, inside or outside? Is he a good man to man defender? Is he smart or does he work SOOOOOOOOO HARD that YOU KNOW he's going to be good one day? What is it? He can rebound and block shots, both of which are directly related to his physical abilities.

His talent is VERY RAW at best and he isn't physically gifted enough like some others (Shaq and Amare comes in mind first and fore most) to make up for his lack of talent. Not only that, he's an idiot and he doesn't work hard to get to where he needs to be. What exactly makes him "talented?" If he's so "talented" then why did so many teams pass him up in the draft?

We took several chances with him and gave him more than enough time and patience. Now it's time to move on.

FYI, being the 7th player taken in the draft, only 6 teams passed him up in the draft. Carlos Boozer slipped to the mid-second round, you can never tell where you are going to go, but hardly anyone passed up on EG in the draft.

I was an EG apologist for quite some time and until he started not showing up, was of the opinion that he would have a major impact in JVGs system. However, at this point if I were the Rox, I would only pay EG to eat **** in a demeaning, 30K per year job so that he can see what the world he is giving up basketball for is like. Once this season is over if he has screwed his head on straight, I would give him a minimum contract for 2 years so that he could play his way back.

Let him see how regular people live to give him an appreciation for how well he had it.

You know, it's one thing to drop to the 2nd round from late 1st round in a strong draft year. It's another thing to drop from 1st overall to 7th in an supposed weak draft year.

You now officially are stretching. Your bitterness is noted, and many concur, including me. Your blind obsession with saying he has no basketball talent borders on the absurd. Only his mental problems keep him from being on the court even now. For example, just because Kobe "Bare" Bryant (he admitted to being bare) is one of my least favorite players, it would be absurd for me to say he has no talent.

What is the argument even about?!?!?!

    We have 5 PF's

    1. Cato - awesome defender no offense whatsoever. (pure center)
    2. MoT - has great offensive game! defensive liability (not bad one on one defender, but doesnt box out well and not a shot blocker)
    3. Padgett - hustles, but not much of a low post threat also a defensive liability but has a nice shooting range.
    4. Spoon - decent PF if he was taller..
    5. Oak - thuggish enforcer type.

tell me Egriffin wouldnt be an upgrade over these guys.

The only team that claimed they would have taken EG with the first pick was....the Rox. Nobody in their right mind would have taken EG over Chandler, Gasol, or Curry.

You have to look at the player he was in college. Here is his stats

Year Team G FGP 3PT% FTP BPG SPG RPG APG PPG
    00-01 Seton Hall 30 .429 32.0 73.4 4.4 0.9 10.8 1.6 17.8

Now lets take a look at another player from right now. Lets say hmmm Emeka Okafur.

SEASONS Games FG% 3PT% FT% SPG BPG RPG APG PPG

    2001-02 34 .590 67.0 0.8 4.0 9.0 0.8 7.9

    2002-03 33 .580 59.9 0.9 4.7 11.2 0.5 15.9

Okay they say that Emeka should be #1 in the draft in the main categories they are the same. i mean blocks per game points and rebounds.

The year that EG was coming out he was the best player in college. Everyone was slotting him to go at #1 even but the fight he had at Seton Hall hurt his draft ranking. He was one of the best athletes at that time and you could not have guessed that Gasol would have been so good when they play overseas etc.

You have to be kidding about Chandler and Curry cause they are busts.

Never said he has shown them up at all. The point you made was no one considered him a high pick other than the rockets. But in fact he was highly scouting while he was in college. The fact that he ruined his life and all that other stuff was not the point you made in your thread.

For as much as the Rockets invested in him, I think it would be smart for the team to at least keep in contact with him and monitor his situation. I have strong doubts that he will ever be back with the team, but if he's paid for his mistakes and on the road to recovery, then the Rockets should be willing to give him a second chance.

Alright then, go ahead and prove me wrong. Which part of his "talent" is say at a good level in this league? I've been saying get rid of him pretty much since the middle of last year and much earlier than before all this sh*t started. Bitter? I guess I must have been bitter since last year.

Sit back and sip a little coffee. Think. My premise is that even the guy drafted last in the second round has basketball talent -- or else he would not have been drafted at all. E.G. was drafted #7 in the first round. The scouts, NBA teams ... anybody ... will affirm you must have talent to be drafted at that level. Whether a player makes the grade for one reason or another is quite a different issue. If you can't agree on this basis, then agree with me that Kobe "Bare" Bryant has no talent. Wait. Zach Randolph was selected later in the same draft so therefore he has no talent. Right?
