Somebody should lay it out for him if he can't figure it out himself: Either you do your work, play your game, be on time and earn multi-million as salary. Or, you go to jail or stay at rehab the rest of your life, what would you choose?

    Nets Statement on Eddie Griffin

East Rutherford, NJ, Jan. 28 - The following statement has been issued by Nets CEO/President/General Manager, Rod Thorn regarding the status of Eddie Griffin:
"Eddie has informed the team that he is not ready to resume his NBA career at this point in time," said Thorn. "He will return to Houston for further rehabilitation. There is no timetable for his return.”

deffinately proves it was the right decision...

I truly wish Eddie the best and hope he gets his life straightened out...

Then he can work on his game if it's in his heart.

    good luck Eddie.

They say that for an addict to recover, sometimes he has to hit rock bottom. I hope that teams stop giving him second chances, personal assistants, and in general coddling the man and let him sink to the depths so he can recover in the future. He's obviously not over his personal issues, and needs to deal with those issues on his own terms. I wish him a quick recovery and return to normal life, let alone basketball, but I'm betting against it.

I wish him well. In hindsight (20/20) the Rocks should have done some homework on him. I can't judge him for his downward spiral after his brother died; I don't know what I would do if my sibling died, even if we are nothing alike we are close. I do blame the Rockets for not admitting their own mistake and keeping EG when we could have had Shareef Abdur-Rahim (I know, I know, let it go, let it go).

    Good luck, Eddie.

Why should they admit that, t the time they felt they were doing the right thing. That is like saying the rockets could have had michael jordan if they traded sampson. or I ould have bought microsoft if I didnt spend it on clothes.
At the time I thought I was doing the right thing but im not gonna go around saying I messed up.

No one knows the full story so it looks like we are jumping to conclusions. If we are all guessing at what his problem is I would say his probation or trial are affecting his decision or forcing his hand.

Maybe the courts are enforcing the curfew and he cant leave the city/ state?

Well I hope he can sort things out and I hope the Rox keep a roster spot open for him if he decides to clean up his life. We could have really used him this season guarding Pau, Duncan, and KG he would have been a difference maker for us in a position we really needed to fill.

Do we even know why he's leaving? People are treating like he's blundered again. Maybe he just isn't ready to come back and he's actually taking charge and saying it's not time yet. I hope so, anyway....

But, but, the Nets were doing such a better job than the Rockets did when it came to helping Eddie out and making him feel part of the team...

I guess the Rocket's organization isn't really as heartless as some people on this board thought, maybe it is Eddie(gasp!).

That was my first impression. The guy was just charged for possession and his court hearing is coming up. That's a load for a guy doing a job that requires his best attention.

Exactly. I hope it's a sign of Eddie taking responsibility for getting his life on the right track.

I really hope that he gets things taken care of for his best health intrests.

On a side note did anyone recently see a piece about Sugar Ray Richardson on NBA TV or ESPN? I can't remember which but it was a great piece about a troubled basketball player.

Are you all psychics? Maybe Eddie just needed help before he did mess up again.
