My guess is he is being treated for depression. His mar1juana bust, his brother's death, his unknown problems with his child and girlfriend.

    quite simply...he isnt.

pot is not addicting, if you thnk so, you have bought into the establishment's lies...so unless he has gotten addicted to something stronger than pot since the last time he was tested...it isnt that.

I go with what the facts point to....mental problems.

Gotta go with the Doc on this one. The erratic behavior, the loss of any passion for the game, the sullen attitude that Eddie usually has - they all seem to point to one of two conditions: severe clinical depression or bipolar disorder.

If Eddie is actually diagnosed with some significant problem of this nature and is able to make a full recovery, I think the Rockets and the fans should be willing to forgive him for everything that has happened.

So long as Eddie turns his life around and gets help for his problems, I have no problem with the team taking him back with open arms.

Sounds very Far-Fetched. Did Eddie beat on her as she was driving? And gunshots while she was driving away that nobody but her heard? I'm calling BS on her.

By the way, Fegwu and Batman, just drop it. Very childish.

Seriously, I think you guys pulling the 'drug addict' card are way off on this one. Sounds to me like the guy just has some issues with depression, and it's gotten to the point where he can no longer handle it. For his sake I hope he gets the help he needs and can move on.

    GriffinFan:

You don't know what the hell you're talking about. Maybe I can help.

First thread on Eddie, I posited that he seemed depressed. I said I didn't know if he was or not, but that he seemed that way. While other people went totally nuts, suggesting they KNEW what was going on and that it was far more insidious, that was pretty much my only contribution to that thread.

After reading pages and pages of stupid (and I might add vitriolic) suggestions that he needed rehab for weed or was "probably" on crack, I finally responded to say that those posts were not only over-reactions, but that they were stupid. That brought on more such idiotic posts accusing Eddie of being a drug addict based on a single incident of him being busted with pot. In my reactions to those posts I said several times that smoking pot was less addictive and less harmful than alcohol. And then I made the move to say that I'd be happy to discuss it in the GARM, but that I wasn't going to continue to contribute to the derailment of the thread. And I didn't.

After reading several more threads, composed of several pages, about Eddie's girlfriend supposedly being a money-grubbing w**** and other inane, baseless accusations toward him and toward her (none of which I actually posted in, by the way), Fegwu shows up -- hilariously one single post after the Chronicle article which completely backed up my original speculation -- to call me out for calling him out on his dumb accusations. I didn't go looking for him, he came for me. I'd already read the article which echoed, exactly, my thesis from hours or minutes after the story broke, but I didn't come back here to say I told anyone so. I responded when Fegwu (hilariously, since the Chron article blatantly suggested I'd been right and he'd been wrong) tried to use that same article to re-ignite a fight I'd graciously walked away from several days ago (even though I'd been right).

In closing, GriffinFan, I don't know you so I'll chalk your post up to ignorance. I'll take admonitions to tone it down from moderators and also from any other poster on this board that I respect. I'm sorry to report you don't currently make that cut. It's nothing personal, but I don't know who the heck you are. As such, your advice is a little annoying. And anyway, if you've got a beef here with childish behavior it ought not to be with me. I've been one of the very few voices of reason on this issue, those very few times I've posted about it. Fegwu, on the other hand, has been running through the BBS like an open razor on this issue. A referee who, having missed a foul, calls one on the retaliator doesn't much earn my respect. But at least he's a referee. You're not. You don't even know the rules of the game.

No edit: Didn't mean to say happy to discuss it in the GARM. Meant to say happy to discuss it in the D&D.

He prepares for the trial(s). I bet his lawyer has contribution in this. Nevertheless, it's a positive step.

I really hope and pray that the Rockets extend his contract now, just until this season by Friday, or else we will lose big. NO ONE KNOWS WHAT IS WRONG WITH EDDIE GRIFFIN. This is all just speculation. But, Eddie voluntarily checked in the hospital to get help. I hope that the Rockets don't give up on the poor guy. Watch, this will be a turning point in his life. He will play much better. I only hope he will be wearing a Rockets uniform. Come on Les,C.D. and JVG, cut Eddie some slack...

I apologize Batman, looked back and saw what you are talking about. I was just a bit annoyed with the "told-you-so" attitude of the post I guess. I hope I can eventually earn your respect, and you have mine.

We're cool, GriffinFan. Thanks for taking the time to review the record. I apologize for the tone of my post to Fegwu, but he's just been a clown on this and I could not believe he had the nerve to keep talking smack after that Chronicle article. I mean, come on. Anyway, I understand why my post put you off. Thanks again for taking a closer look.

Yetti, I sincerely believe that part of the getting of wisdom is learning to take your lumps. I really do think Eddie would be well served with a punishing coaching session with Patrick when he lets the team down. It's an old fashioned way of communicating, but I think that kind of immediate "feedback" is ultimately more helpful than isolation and neglect, which seems to be Egg's more prevelent pattern to date. The crucible of fire forges steel. Neglect breeds decay and corruption.
