Good news that EG has gone for help. I hope he attacks this better than he has his career -- then attacks his career, as well. Good luck, young feller.
If it's true he's in a hospital, this is very important. It means the amount of damage he can do to himself or others is now limited. Also, it means that either somebody trusted by him has enough wisdom to check him in, or better yet, he does.
I believe EG is in a basketball clinic to cure the accuracy of his shots, hopefully not his gunshots.
Do you check into a hospital for a substance abuse problem? I would have thought a clinic of some type would be more appropriate. It may just be choice of words, but "hospital" seems to imply that it is some form of emergency to me.
this crap is getting old. he needs to asses his life and figure out what he wants. because right now it looks like he is throwing it all away. Eddie I hope you can turn things around.
Well if he's in the hospital, there's a great chance he over did it on the drugs. Maybe he's in there cuz he ODed and a friend took him in.
Everything he said has pretty much already been mentioned in this thread. Eddie's in a hospital, no reason given, and he's sticking to his story about the girl.
From the AP (via ESPN.com): Associated Press HOUSTON -- Suspended Houston Rockets forward Eddie Griffin has voluntarily checked into a hospital to get help with unidentified problems, according to a broadcast report Tuesday night. Houston television station KRIV quoted unidentified NBA sources as saying Griffin had checked into a hospital. Griffin's attorney, Rusty Hardin, told the station that Griffin was getting help but wouldn't elaborate. Hardin did not immediately return a telephone call from The Associated Press on Tuesday night. Team spokesman Nelson Luis could not confirm the report Tuesday night. Griffin was suspended from the team Oct. 16 for a series of missed practices and a skipped flight to Sacramento. Houston police are investigating a woman's allegations that Griffin struck her in the face and shot at her early Saturday at his home. No charges have been filed. "He has reached out for help," Hardin told KRIV. "Without discussing any of the specifics, he is in the process of receiving medical help that has been urged on him for several weeks." Griffin has an unresolved mar1juana possession charge against him stemming from an April arrest. His next court date on the charge is set for Thursday. Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy said after the suspension earlier this month that he hoped the time away from the team would allow Griffin to "get himself together." Griffin was the seventh overall pick in the 2001 draft by the New Jersey Nets and was traded to the Rockets for three first-round draft choices. He has averaged 8.7 points and 5.8 rebounds in two seasons with the Rockets.
[speculation] Eddie checked into the hospital for one of the following reasons; 1. Physical injury (Probable source = Eddie_Romero Incident). 2. Drug/substance abuse problem. Food for thought:- Miss Romero has a criminal past which include Cocaine Trafficing. Could it be possible she is has a hand in Eddie's hospitalization in first scenario AS WELL AS the second scenario (as an 'supplier' aka 'acquaintance'). The alleged fight the other night could also have been about a 'drug' (pot, crack, coke, etc) business gone bad? Hmmmm
From Chron.com: Rockets' Griffin seeks help for 'emotional problems' By ROBERT CROWE Copyright 2003 Houston Chronicle Troubled Houston Rockets forward Eddie Griffin has sought professional help here for "a lot of emotional problems," his attorney said Tuesday night. "Eddie has a lot of problems, and he has reached out for help," Rusty Hardin said from Philadelphia. "He has a lot of emotional problems he's seeking help for." Hardin would not elaborate on the type of facility Griffin sought for assistance, but he did confirm the player is still in the Houston area. Griffin faces a mar1juana possession charge and is suspended indefinitely by the Rockets for missing the team's recent trip to Sacramento and several ensuing practices. Rockets management has maintained they do not know his whereabouts, and spokesman Nelson Luiz said Tuesday night he could not comment. Last Saurday, a woman, 21, who said she was a friend of Griffin's told police she went to his southwest Houston house and that he beat her and shot at her as she was driving away. Police have been unable to talk to Griffin, and he is not charged in connection to the alleged incident. Griffin is to appear before a judge Thursday for a hearing relating to his mar1juana arrest in April. "Right now he's still set for court on Thursday," Hardin said. The type of treatment Griffin is seeking might affect whether he will appear,Hardin said. Joe Laud, a Houston police spokesman, said Tuesday night of the incident involving the woman, "We still have an ongoing investigation, and we're still interviewing witnesses His lawyers have basically said, 'If you come up with a charge, we'll start talking.'"
Oh btw, if drug addiction is the case then we should go ahead and apologize to miss 'Jessica Jeminez' (Eddie rumoured Baby Mama) whose name has been ridiculed on this forum based on mere rumour by a BBSer - saying that she is preventing Eddie from seeing her daughter. That rumour (that Eddie's baby is the center of this all) is looking very much like a LIE now. How can that be a problem for Eddie in Houston when Steven A Smith reported that the baby mam lives in Philly? Who was that BBSer who pedalled that story? Come and defend your story now! Anyway, tracing back all that has happened to Eddie with the last 2 weeks fom missed flights to missed practize to multiple missed schedule re-instatement walkout sessions to alleged fights and gun shot and disapearance. Well BatMan Jones or whatever the name is don't say I did not tell you. Your virtually brandished my idea (possible detoxation) as foolish or maybe stupid. Proper profiling works if you pay attention to the right details. In all, I am very happy for Eddie because this is a positive start to either physical or spiritual healing. Whatever happens I pray he comes out of all of this on top and a better man/father.
Im willing to bet he is suicidal. Just a vibe I have. Dude didnt even look happy on draft night. Probably a pyscho ward. Kinda reminds me of Vin Baker both in emotional problems, play on court. Maybe he is an alcoholic. Coke and alcohol will prevent muscle gains.
Ha. You dork. I said it was silly to suggest a pothead go to detox, which is what you did. Unless you were the dork who said he's probably on crack now. I can't remember which of the two dorks you were. Incidentally, I never said anything about other drugs and we don't know whether or not he's even done other drugs. At any rate I never promised he wasn't addicted to anything -- only that there had been zero evidence that he'd even ever tried an addictive drug and that suggesting that he was "probably" on crack or that he should go to detox for weed was stupid. And it was. If you go back and look though, you'll find that since this story broke I was the first person to suggest he seemed clinically depressed. And if you'll look a couple posts up in this thread, you'll see the Chronicle's currently reporting he checked into a hospital for emotional problems (not drug addiction). Now, we might find out later that he's hooked on drugs too, but nothing that's been reported has suggested that (which is why I took issue with your silly overreaction). What has been suggested so far is exactly what I suspected.
