You're a confusing poster, jshabang. Can anyone else figure out what the hell he is trying to say these last couple of posts?
The guy is saying Griffin is gonna be 250 or 260, and I'm saying he is gonna be more along the lines of KG and Rasheed in the 230-235 range. That's all.......... Also I think playing GRiffin at the 5 would be a mistake, because I think he'll get to many fouls in that position therefore he'll be on the bench more
No, the guy in fact was saying that there is no reason to limit any expectations of him at this point. He said that IF he grows a couple more inches and puts on 30 lbs of muscle, then that will be great, and he can easily be our center of the future. By the way, this is not at all an unlikely thing to happen. 30 lbs of muscle for someone who works hard in the weight room the next couple of offseasons is not that big of an accomplishment. The only thing I worry about is that putting on muscle like that might reduce his quick leaping ability, which I think is one of the 2 or 3 keys to his shot blocking ability. Do you really think that Eddie will only put on 10-15 total pounds of muscle/mass for the rest of his career?
Do you not think Jermaine O'Neal is an effective center? When has Eddie shown any likelihood to be foul prone?
I really don't see 30 lbs of muscle, that's alot of mass. That would make the kid an entirely different player. Eddie frame is not a 260lbs frame..................call me ignorant but I don't see it, and I don't see him as our starting center.......I think the ideal position is 4, with spot duty at 5.
_________________ Jermaine is playing 4 in indy, and he's not 260lbs. But to answer yoour question, yes last year I feel he was effective at center.
Damn guy can you read? I never said he was going to grow to 250 to 270. I said don't limit him. Period. Eddie will grow into what Eddie grows into. Thanks RL for speaking out for me I was begining to think that I was making no sense. Over the last 5 games or so Eddie has logged most of his minutes at the 5 and he has yet to get into fould trouble. Face it Eddie is not foul prone.
In an interview with ESPN, Eddie said his biggest challenge would be to NOT hit a rookie wall. I'm wondering. If there's one rookie wall, then maybe Eddie STARTED the season with it? Won't run into it again? Maybe he just won't hit it? Thoughts?
jshabang- when quoting someone just don't mess with the html there. IT makes it confusing to read your posts. Anyway, I actually think Eddie creates the most mismatch problems at the 3. Imagine if he could learn to handle the ball as well as KG...with his sweet shot he'd be really good. I think a Francis/Mobley/Griffin/Taylor or Thomas/Cato or other center lineup would be the most athletic one we could use with the most mismatches. If necessary defensively, Eddie could guard whoever.
The rookie wall usually hits because a player playing in the NBA is playing more than twice the number of games he's ever played before, and because the NBA teams figure out a player from film and so on. Eddie is likely not hitting that wall yet because of his limited playing time earlier in the season - its possible he will hit this wall sometime in the future, though, considering his tangible improvement from game to game, it will be as a result of fatigue from such a long schedule, and not the remainder of the NBA figuring out how to contain him.
The most quite player in the rosters before Kenny, is the most improved and surprisingly the most versatile player we got, that can really explode end to end of the court. Way to go EDDIE!!!!!
You know, the way Eddie is going, it seems like only a matter of time before Eddie gets a decent block on the great Hakeem Olajuwon. I can't imagine a situation when I would have more mixed emotions. The result will probably be something like me rolling around on the ground, laughing hysterically while simultaneously crying and begging Dream to retire. And now I will sit back and cringe when this thread turns into a pro-Dream vs. Dream hater pissing match.
save him for the 4th quarter and also so he doesn't have to bang with big fresh starters at the beginning of the game
That's a good point Raven. How would you guys feel if Eddie just straight threw Hakeem's stuff? I wonder what the fans at the game would do.... -LTF
