Eddie will eventually be one of the best in the game!!! Keep up the good work. I can't say enough about this kid. Steve is still my best player, with Eddie not far behind! But hey I just Love those Damn Rockets!
We have 3 guys who can average 20 ppg, and on any given night go off for 30 or 40 and are virtually unstoppable at their positions because of speed, skill and determination. I think the Lakers have some serious problems coming there way.
I missed the game last night so can someone tell me why Eddie only played 27minutes? Was he injured or anything?
Cato was playing well so in the 1st Eddie did not come in until the second period. In the 3rd Eddie did not come in until Kenny got a couple of fouls which was close to the end of the period. By that time Cato was putting on a dunking clinic. Finally you could see Sweat pouring off of Cato while he was shooting a free throw and Rudy put in Kenny and moved Eddie to the 5. So blame the fact that both Cato and Kenny were playing well last night for not getting Eddie in sooner.
BTW did anyone here the interview with Eddie at the end of the game? He told Bill that he has grown an inch since the season started. Does that make him 6'11"? Didn't he tell someone that he was measured at 6'10" at the Chicago rookie camp last summer? He looked every bit as tall as LaFrentz last night. He also looked just as tall as Jermain O'Neal the other night. Since KT has moved back into the starting line up Eddie has seen the majority of his play at the 5. Is it a coincedence that Eddies shot blocking numbers have increased since he started getting most of his minutes at the 5 as apposed to the 4? Or is it just because he is getting better and it does not matter what position he plays. The point I am getting at is that I was convinced that Eddie was a natural 4 and not a 5 as I was never convinced he would actually grow to 6'11" or better now I am not sure. If he continues to thrive at the 5 and puts on muscle in the summer is it possible that we have our 5? Is Rudy thinking he may have his new star center? Not since Ralpn Sampson have we had a player with the skills and physical ability to play the 3, 4 and 5. Just a thought.
crash-I'm noticing the same. I think Rudy would like to get a look at Eddie as a center this year, and see if he can thrive there. The only way we'll get to test this is if Willis is healthy, and Cato gets an injury. Then we'd see if Rudy would start Willis at center before Griffin. Griffin's goal has been putting on muscle. It'll depend on how successful he is.
If the arena referendum had failed and the Rockets had announced they were leaving Houston, right now I would be watching this guy play and crying.
IMO, Griff is potentially better than KG...esp if he'll have Steve around to attract attention away. Scary. If Cato can avg. 8/10, then Griff will be our 4 and supplement at 5. Otherwise, he'll be our starting 5 by mid-year 2003 if not sooner.
EG is our startin 4 for years to come period........ No need moving him around, move some of these other guys around.......................
EG was trying so hard to keep that "cool as a cucumber" persona going in the postgame interview, but in the end Murphy's "Eddie monster" hairline and "Pimps up, Hoes Down" suit finally got the best of him......
You may be right on but don't be so quick to put limitations on our 19 year old superstar just yet. Lets allow Eddie to grow into what is ever natural for him. If he turns into a 6'11" to 7'1" 250 to 270 lb demon in the paint then so be it and the better for us. If it is obvious as he grows that he is a natural 4 and that he can dominate against the 4's in this league in a way that he can not against the 5's then great he is a 4. Lets be honest did anyone really think a 19 year old could avg 17pts 10 boards and 4 blocks? Does anyone doubt it now? Eddie is advancing faster than any of us can keep up so lets just sit back and enjoy the show because I can tell you that this doesn't come around very often. Eddie will grow into what Eddie grows into and when he does no one will be able to stop him. Furthermore I wish people would stop trying to compare Eddie to Duncan or KG because the more I see of Eddie the more I am convinced that Eddie has his own game and people will start to use him as a guage for greatness.
Dude.......He'll never some But he'll never be 260 or 270, I see him more along the lines of Rasheed and KG body wise.
Their you go limiting him again. The point is not that he will ever be 250 - 270 but that we should not try to define what he will be just yet. I don't think he will ever get to be 7'1" and 270 lbs but then I didn't think he would have already grown another inch during this season. I also did not think we would see him scoring, rebounding and blocking shots the way he is doing it. I certainly never thought we would see him play as the most mature person on this team which he is certainly doing. Let Eddie grow at his own pace and play at his own abilities and then we will let that dictate where he plays on the floor. Never place limitations on someone with his type of tallent.
