maybe eddie was just doing some investigational research for the upcoming portland game. i mean come on, it worked for wynonna.....
Seriously DD, on this issue at least, it is you who lives in a cave. If it was a DUI he would have been arrested for that. He wasn't. He was arrested for possession. Are you seriously saying that they wouldn't arrest him for possession if he wasn't DUI??? Are you seriously saying the only way a cop can find pot in a car is if you're in the midst of smoking it? What planet are you living on? Why do you think there are two different charges? Eddie screwed up. Because he got caught. Period. There is no reason to believe he was DUI -- the fact that he wasn't charged with the greater crime of DUI is reason to believe he wasn't. Don't make this worse than it is.
Uh...What's wrong with socializing the ladies... It's ashame that EG got caught...I don't agree with it, but he'll have to suffer the consequences... Oh wait, that's right, he plays Bball and thus, there are no consequences...
Well said. I'm tired of hearing people say players' off-court lives don't matter. Even if you have an ordinary $40,000 a year job, you'd be fired if your personal life messed up what you do in your job.
Please, people. Toking up after a game isn't going to affect the man's playing ability any more than downing a few cocktails. If you don't approve of mar1juana smoking, that's fine. But suggesting that Griff is a worse player because of it is laughable. I'm not saying Eddie's a hero for smoking. Much like ciggarettes, weed can have long-term health detriments. It can't be good for your endurance, which is kinda crucial for basketball. But again, weed doesn't hurt you any worse than legal substances like ciggarettes (which are chock full of poisonous "additives") or alchohol (Drunk drivers kill people all the time; there IS no Mothers Against Stoned Drivers). Sure, weed isn't too honorable or healthy, but you don't become physically dependant on it like the above substances. Gateway drug? If every dope smoker tried heroin, this nation would be dead right now. In any case, STOOPID for taking that **** out in public. It's against the law, right or wrong. Eddie, as a grown man, will now deal with the consequences.
If you think a dime bag or so of pot is alot, then I guess you've never seen a dime bag. Now if he had an elbow or so, that would be alot. But a dime bag? Please..
droxford: Good post. You are consistent and your arguments are reasonable. I only take issue with people who don't mind the drinkers (basically every Rocket) but want to crucify the potheads (probably half the team). Hippieloser: you're right on, too.
another thing.... this is speculation, but i have to believe that eddie was driving alone. had there been another passenger - and considering eddie's social status - that possession rap would have gotten pushed off on the other guy.
Perhaps the sweet bud was the only thing stopping Eddie from punching all his teammates on a regular basis? He may start popping Stevie every time he doesn't get the ball to him in the post.
PGabriel, HuH?! I didn't say it affected me. I said it affected his performance and the team. I would suspect that this is a violation of his contract. It is certainly a violation of NBA rules. And, of course, it is crime.
This is bad bad news for the team. Even if Eddie is not punished for what he did, he will not be the same player for the rest of the season. He is now a important piece of the team, expecially he had several good games recently. MoT alone on PF is not enough to carry us. Maybe its time to play some Cato at PF? I dont like to see TMO plays too much at such critical part of the season. Eddie, you dumbahrse, smoke it at home nobody would've bothered you. No, sec that. Eddie you dumbahrse for smoking it.
