Way to go Eddie. How selfish. Here this team is fighting for the 8th seed in the playoffs and Eddie creates this distraction for the team. This is the last thing this team needs now. We already had one distraction with Rudy not here and now we have this. I am an Eddie Griffin fan....but this really does disappoint me. When will the Rockets learn? How about some professionalism! FYI, figures this would happen to Eddie the day before we play the Portland JailBlazers! Talk about bad karma! Why do I have visions of Mo Taylor, Eddie, Damon Stoudamire, Rasheed Wallace and Qyntel Woods passing the weed??
That's your opinion, and you're certainly welcome to it. I don't believe your opinion is popular enough to change the law, but it certainly has a following. That being said, and based on my own experience, I STRONGLY disagree.
Can't we keep the stupid 'pot should be legalized' arguments in the hangout? This thread is about bashing Eddie for getting caught.
surprised that eddie was actually doing this. but now it all makes sense. how a talented player like eddie has not developed quicker and also it kinda explains that laid back and lazy look on his face. guy must get high before every game.
How classy can our organisation realy be? Here is Eddie a 20yr old young man, how much family guidance does he have while residing in this City? Does he live alone or with fellow team players? If the answers are in the negative, it would benifit the Rockets to have Eddie live in a Family setting or have a guidance councilor or something. It looks like that Eddie has been exposed to street life here in Houston and has fallen into a way of life that is neither positive or the good way for athletes to go. The possible connections and the ramifications should make the Rockets Management lay down very strict codes of acceptable behavior concerning Eddies future.
If you've never smoked weed and yet insist it is more (or even equally) as dangerous as alchohol, you simply don't know what you're talking about. That said, weed is still illegal. Eddie is an idiot for getting caught and packing dope in public, and I'll be extremely pissed if this affects the team somehow.
I really am sorry -- just hard to keep my mouth shut when people try and turn this into a moral issue. I have a real problem with hypocrisy. That said, you're right. He was stupid to get caught and he deserves to be bashed for that.
in a way its a good thing. at least now the rockets can 'save face' when they trade him. they can say that his off the court behavior is the reason they traded him. they can also claim that his off court behavior is the reason he didnt develop into the player they they thought he could be. they can say that they still think they made a good deal trading 3 picks for eddie, but again, it was his demeanor that kept him from being a star.
Way to go Eddie put yourself before the team! What a piece of crap. Makes a horrible trade look even worse.
Your not a fan dude your a fool...You do not wish badluck on the whole team...Get a life. 80% do some sort of illegal drug in the NBA,NFL,WNBA,MLB, etc etc.. etc .. Management is not there to babysit the players, they are grown men with life other than Basketball. Your jumping to conclusions not one thing has been said yet if it was "in" his car on his persons. Does the Phrase "not mine" come to a head?
Trade value is now officially at an all time low. What once could have bagged Rashard will be lucky to net a Collier. Wait, we already have a Collier. D'oh! Let's hope he can turn this embarassment into motivation to turn things around! MoT seems to be playing with more intensity these days.
Interesting to see if Yao will pick up any of these bad traits through our current cast of rift rafts... Imagine if we had Lamar too. It will be a peace pipe session like what the Indians use to do..
Batman I agree with you - somehow there are some traits of hypocrisy in us all. I definitely have my own "issues". Heck even upstanding citizens like David Robinson and Avery John probably have their own hidden demons. But my beaf with Eddy stems from the "love" I have for him as a Rocket and my desire to him do well. I feel this will be a stain on him and could possibly affect his play and hurt his team. Bad habbits are hard to let go - I can atest to that myself. It is obvious that this "problem" did not start last week. So lets pray for Eddy so that he can beat this "problem" and remain clean for good. I hope this spurs him on and opens his eyes to see how blessed and fortunate he is, and then hopefully we will see a new improved Eddy.
Another Vernon Maxwell...great. Pot is illegal, and it is HORRIBLE for your brain. Alcohol is bad, but Pot kills a LOT more braincells then alcohol. Doing pot is just one thing...STUPID !!! DD
That's what Eddie was thinking. He was just lighten up. Ladies and gentlemen, let's hear a big round of applause for YOUR Houston . . . Trailblazers.
Suspend him for the rest of the (regualr) season!!! Now I've lost all of my respect for him. Idiot!!!
If I'm not mistaken, the league only issues suspensions if a player fails a drug test. I don't recall the league suspending Stoudemire and Wallace when they were caught with weed a few weeks ago. That being said, the Rocket organization can suspend Eddie, but can they really afford to? This comes at a bad time, not only are we in the middle of a playoff race, but Eddie has also looked pretty good on the court lately, he had 14 points in 17 minutes last night. And just to give my opinion on the legalization of majiuana argument, I too believe it should be legalized, and based on my own experience, alcohol is MUCH more dangerous than lighting up a little bowl, joint, blunt, bong, etc.
