I'm always amazed how easily some people treat the idea of doing drugs, of any kind, really. I mean seriously...what's wrong with trying to go through life on your own? Does it really benefit you that much that its necessary to become a casual part of your life? I have friends who smoke...and when they do, they aren't exactly the sharpest knives in the drawer. For God's sake people...quit being weak and face life on your own. Hiding doesn't help a damn thing.
Rokkit: Funny to me you would post such an anti-drug post right above a David Cross quote in your signature. I partied HARD with David Cross a few months ago. We were out all night. Safe to say he doesn't share your philosophy.
You know why I give a **** that he was arrested? It affects his trade value. Unless he goes on a monster run for the remainder of the season and the playoffs, it's safe to say he shot his trade value for this summer.
Griff is not the first, and will not be the last to go through this in the nba. This does not make him bad or evil; its just a mastake. We all make them, YES even 20 year old athletes. The timing could not have been worse, but the situation was not that bad. I'm not OK'ing it. But look at it : He is only 20 and cannot legaly drink He is only 20 a starting PF in the nba a PF on a team fighting for the last playoff spot I'm sure he (just as well as any of us) gets stressed at times and need something to calm them down. Things like a drink, a sig. or a loved girlfriend would work for most, but he is only 20 and a athlete. Plus he was arrested for having a small amount of weed in his car not in his system. Thats better than driving drunk at only 20. After all it could be Mo's weed
Quit living in a bubble and realize this is a part of the players lives that we support. These people are far from "addicts". This is something that is far more widespread than the average fan obviously realizes. So give Eddie a break and hope he learns from this, he is only twenty yrs. old. I dont think what he did was smart, but If we turn our backs so quickly on our team, how quickly do you expect them to turn on each other. I am just trying to make a point.
It's only worth a few hours in jail, bail, fine and probation that's all. it's illegal and he got caught, it's serious enough.
this SUCKS! at time like this, with Rudy's abscent, LS in, playoff on the line ... and now THIS?! hope it won't hurt the team.
I don't think you'll find that many kids 20 and under from urban city areas that haven't yet tried pot at least once. It's really easy to get and the effects of smoking pot isn't as bad as smoking a cigarette or drinking a 40. If you smell like pot just put on some strong cologne and it's gone. There are lots of people who can be super duper high and still be completely coherent and sober like nothing happened. I'm sure Eddie's car was searched in order to find the weed...i doubt that they "suspected" he was smokin' something by the way he acted. I thought old people who were teens from the 70s (as a lot of people on this bbs are) would have more sympathy for budsmokers. Although I'm not saying I am one
ummmm...Dadakota...you are dead wrong. in my younger days, I sparked up many a doob...and even got taken to jail for a roach...that would be a partial joint..one that was no longer than 1 inch long. many cops will take you in for any amount they find. now... Bad Eggie...save that sh*t for the offseason Eggie...dont you have other things to be doing right now? Like preparing for the next game? jeeez!
At least we know that Mo Taylor has been doing something with Eddie Griffin. Jesus. Makes you wonder how many other players on the team are smoking it too. Bad news. And I hate to say this, but doesn't the team play almost reflect what happens to people who use pot. One game were up the next were down. Not suprising. Especially given that one of our starters is packing some weed. Wouldn't suprise me if a few other players were smoking it to.
Look, a lot of players smoke pot. Kareem is considered at least the third best center of all time and he is one of the biggest pot heads in history. Eddie's immaturity reared its ugly head for having traffic warrants. That's the reason his car was searched in the first place. I mean, if I'm making millions, why would I not pay a $200 traffic fine and not even take care of it. That's a bigger problem for me than the pot. That is total irresponsability.
Pot is another name for mar1juana - a plant which is (usually) smoked and is an illegal drug. -- droxford
This is exactly what I was thinking. Pot decreases mental capacity especially the ability to make quick decisions, it also decreases your physical capacities (It you have smoked it you know this is true),it makes you passive and lose you aggressiveness (sounds like Eddie to me). If the rockets are going to start acting like the jailblazers I will find another team. I have been a rockets fan since I was a child and now I have my own kids who know I am a rockets fan. Daughter to daddy "Why do the rockets players always have pot?" Daddy to daughter "I don't know." Daughter to daddy "Why do you like the rockets?" Daddy to daughter "I don't know." okierock
Guys, Police can not search your car if you are pulled over for speeding, unless you allow them to do it. However, if you have a warrant out for your arrest, like Eddie, then all bets are off. If your car was searched in a routine traffic stop, and they found something in the glove box, or console, it would be dismissed as an illegal search and seizure. As for Eddie, this is unbelievably ignorant, in that it is bad enough that he has the ganja to begin with, but to have it in your car while he has a warrant out for his arrest. Well, I guess we know that his driving IQ is the same as his basektball IQ...both...nill. DD
what makes you want to puke more? the former president of the US getting a blowjob in the oval office or eddie getting caught with pot.
