We weren't going to trade an up and coming PF (I think everyone's still being to hard on him, aside from the pot thing today). We also couldn't trade away Mo T...cause of his contract. The odd man out was KT. Kenny Thomas doesn't block almost 2 shots a game.

Thank you at least someone hasn't totally jumped off the deep end on this. Yeah what Eddie did was wrong, considering weed is illegal. But until there's proof that he has a more serious problem than the occasional toke, or that he's hanging around the wrong people or whatever i'm willing to give the kid the benifit of the doubt.

I am not referring to his basketball life. I am referring to the huge loss that Griffin suffered - the death of his brother. I am sure Griffin would rather have his brother than millions of dollars.

Disadavantages:

Tabacco -- Cancer. It depends on persons. Many smoke a pack a day for lifetime and died free of cancer.

Alcohol -- Bad Liver. Hmm.... not really, only excessive drinking destroy the liver.

Pot -- Even a small amount of it turns every person that tries it into a moron, giggling like a clown.

It's not even close.

Ummm, yes they would have. It's called POSSESSION. If he were smoking while driving they could have charged him with DUI. There is a BIG difference.

Now, we all need to leave the alcohol comparison out of this thread. It does not belong here. Go join one of the many other pot/alcohol debate threads in the Hangout.

The topic is EG and stupid choice to put himself in this position. It seems obvious to me that he does not have the fire that this team needs to go after the prize. Maybe he could develop it, but at this point, he hasn't shown the desire one bit. I've been disappointed in the entire team's play all season, but this is the low blow. I feel like I just got dumped.

And alcohol kills more people than Coke. Guess Heroin and Coke should be legal as well? ;)

The society doesn't make one thing legal or not based on invidual harms. It's up to one to kill himself through substance abuse. One can kill himself for pleasure through anything - alcohol, drugs, food - clearly banning food isn't practical huh?

The society can go on with a few losses of lives resulted from alcohol, tabacco and food abuse, but it can't go on or will suffer greatly with a bunch of morons sitting idle enjoying weed, Coke or Heroin. The criteria is based on impact on the whole society, not individual losses of lives. The latter is strictly a personal choice. You want to die through substance abuse, fine, but if your substance pose a threat to the competitiveness of society as a whole, society has to the right to interneve, ala making it illegal.

Eddie screwed up. My love for him has dwindled a lot after this incident. He has even more to prove as a player than before. Before it's more in confidence, skills and strength, now the mental side kicks. Give me a break or I'm gonna change my signature. :(

We all know about drugs...

So there is no possibility that it wasn't Griffin's stuff? It could have been left behind by one of his supposed thug friends by accident...I hope he can play tomorrow. Don't know how we will play...or how the Rockets will do.

If it's natural, it should be legal. If it pisses you off that people think weed should be legal, it should really piss you off that Navajo Indians legally get to use Peyote(very strong mindaltering hallucinogen) on their reservations.

It's not a dumb mistake, it's a antiquated law that has no place in modern times.

This is going to sound very political.

There are some people in here that don't understand the politics that is behind this whole pot issue. Maybe you guys should do a little research by yourself to compare pot with alocohol and nicatine. Be careful not to use the sources funded by the money from war on drugs. Did you know that 3 different administrations ordered teams of doctors to prove that pot is a "dangerous" drug? What did they find out? Maybe you guys could look it up by yourself.

DaDokota:
man, I always enjoyed reading your posts. They are in many ways the reason I have so few posts to my name. But I really think your understanding of pot is a little mislead, or perhaps had bad personal experiences. There are many intellectuals using pot, yeah, really, not only garbage men. Majority have to hide their little habits for obvious reasons. If you enjoy having a drink on occasions, you might want to find out more about pot, for your own good. Anyway, your view of pot doesn't really change the fact that I agree with you on most topics regarding to rox.

back to eddie: you are a fool to get caught at this time of the year.

Doesn't really piss me off, just makes me think that maybe there should be pothead reservations. I wouldn't be against that.

Again. Yes, Eddie is a fool to have gotten caught. But the rest of you -- the ones who never say a single thing about the fact that 90% of the team drinks but FREAK OUT when they possess pot -- are far bigger fools.

We've got people in here saying we should boo him, Rockets fans saying he should be suspended, people saying he's blown his trade value... You guys obviously have never smoked pot and know nothing about it. And you look like idiots.

Eddie is not going to be suspended because of this and he didn't lose an ounce of trade value. Smoke a joint and calm the hell down.

Eddie is a fool for doing something illegal. Simple as that.

I could give two ****s about the effect that alcohol or mar1juana has on a person. You can post that crap in the Hangout Forum. Nor do I give a damn about the players who LEGALLY drink alcohol as long as it doesn't affect their game.

There is absolutely NO justification for a guy making millions of dollars to not contain himself from doing something that could potentially hurt the team.

And if you actually believe that illegal drug use has no effect on trade value, maybe it's time for you to set down your joint.
